April 2015 Birchbox Review

Hello everyone! Has it been a long week for anyone else or just for me? I’m super excited that their are only two weeks left for the semester and my first year of grad school will be complete!

Anywho let’s get to my April Birchbox!

How beautiful is this month’s design? Rifle Paper Co. designed this exclusively for Birchbox!

For those who don’t know, Birchbox is a monthly beauty sampling subscription service that costs $10/month!

Birchbox is one of my favorite subscription services because I find myself actually using and loving everything (or almost everything) I receive! I’ve discovered many new brands from this sub!

Another reason I love Birchbox is their INCREDIBLE point system! For every item in your box you review, you receive 10 Birchbox points, which is equal to $1 in theBirchbox store. Something new they started this year is if you share your Birchbox on FB or Twitter you will get an additional 10 points! These points add up super fast since you can get $6 or more worth of store credit each month!

Each box comes with a card detailing the products included:
As always, I peeked at my box so I knew what I was getting ahead of time!
Whish Shave Cream in Blueberry – 0.75 oz $3.00

TempleSpa Peace Be Still Calming Face and Body Balm – 0.84 oz $3.62

Supergoop Advanced Anti-Aging Eye Cream – 2 ml $6.09
I received the shaving cream in a previous box and I still haven’t used it up so I’ll probably send this to a friend. The full size costs $20.00 and I feel like I get the same results as any shaving cream that costs a lot less. The body balm smells super great, the scent is soothing and it’s moisturizing, I really like how it absorbs quickly into my skin! I plan to save up some Birchbox points for the full size, which is $29.00. As for the eye cream, I’ve heard loads of great things about it so I do have high expectations! It’s supposed to reduce dark circles, depuffs, and minimizes fine lines.
The downside to all three of these samples is that half of each bottle is full of air so I got a lot less product than I expected.
Beauty Protector Protect and Oil – ??

Cynthia Rowley Beauty Brightening Illuminator – 0.04 oz $10.18
This oil protects against heat, breakage, and UV rays and I do have high expectations for it since I love the protect and detangle and their hair mask! Almost everyone who tries Beauty Protector products rave about how great they smell and I agree, I LOVE the scent of all their products! The protect and oil sample doesn’t say how many ounces it is and I’m terrible at estimating but the full size is about $26 and 4 ounces. I’m having a hard time believing this tiny sample of the illuminator is $10 since the product is tiny and it feels like most of the tube is filled with air. Maybe I calculated the cost wrong, who knows! Anywho, this highlighter is supposed to leave a subtle glow and I’m probably going to add this to my giveaway or swap pile since I don’t use highlighters often.
This month’s Birchbox wasn’t the best but it wasn’t terrible either. My favorite products are the beauty balm, protect and oil, and eye cream! The overall value of this box is over $22 – that’s more than double the price!
Do you subscribe to Birchbox – if so, what were your favorite products from April?

Sibling Tag

Happy Friday everyone! I’m switching gears a bit with a Sibling Tag. I saw the lovely Olivia post this a few days ago and thought it would be fun to do! Those who really know me are probably confused since I am an only child BUT my darling cousin, Simran, and I grew up together and are just as close as siblings can be.
Awww a baby picture <3

1. Who’s the oldest sibling?
Me! We’re about five and half years apart but everyone says I look like the younger child…I’m not kidding, we having dinner once and our waiter thought I was 15 while she was 21 when it was the opposite.
2. Funniest memory you have?
There are SO many! One is when our other cousin and grandparents came to visit us. My grandpa was in another room while we were watching a movie in the patio. Now, the glass door was open but the screen door wasn’t and our grandpa walked into it and the door completely came apart! He didn’t get hurt or anything, instead he continued to walk into the patio with the screen door in his hands. I promise, it was hilarious, and no was injured.
3. What annoys you the most about your sibling/(s)?
Where do I begin…JUST KIDDING! Sometimes she can be over confident and think she’s always right.
4.  Do you have a nickname for them and do they have one for you?
I call her “Simu” most of the time and she, as well as my entire family, call me “Pinky”. Now that I think about it..I doubt half my family knows what my real name is..
5. Are you close?
Yes! We are really close, especially since we’re both only children and saw each other ALL the time as we were growing up..we even lived together from 2009 until I moved to Kentucky last year! I think the move has brought us even closer.
6. One thing you’re better at than your sibling?
SO MANY THINGS! Just kidding…I’ve never really thought about it until now. I’m better with technology and according to her I’m better at math..does this even count?
7. One thing they are better at than you?
This one’s easy peasy, Simran’s more fashionable than me.
8. Favourite thing to do together?
I love to chill at home and watch TV together – we’re both CSI, Law and Order SVU, and Criminal Minds addicts!
9. Favourite inside joke?
We do have our fair shares of inside jokes but I really cannot think of one at the moment.
10.What’s yours and your siblings favourite food? Do you have similar tastes?
We both love Taco Bell SO much, that’s pretty much all we ate when I went to go visit her during Winter break last year, however, I am beginning to love BBQ chicken pizza as much as her. We do have some similar tastes when it comes to clothing but we can also be extreme opposites.
Well there you have it – I tag anyone who wants to do this! Let me know if you’re an only child or have siblings in the comments below!

April 2015 Rocksbox Review

Happy Tuesday everyone! I’ve been wanting to share my latest Rocksbox with you but didn’t have a chance until now.

Rocksbox is a monthly subscription service that sends you 3 designer pieces of jewelry each month to try and wear as much as you want and you can either choose to return them or purchase them at a discounted price!
This subscription costs $19/month with free shipping both ways, you don’t have to pay for shipping when returning the items! They only ship within the US at the moment, unfortunately.
Here’s some more info from their website – it’ll make more sense rather than me trying to explain everything!

  • Rocksbox Sets are curated for you based on your style profile.
  • You can keep and wear your Rocksbox pieces for as long as you like.
  • You can return your set anytime, as often as you like, and we’ll send out a new set of three right away.
  • You pay the same membership fee regardless of how often you exchange your box.
  • When you’re ready for refresh of your box send back all the pieces you don’t wish to purchase.
  • If you love a piece, keep it when you return your box and you will be billed at the Insiders’ Price shown on your packing list.

Something important to note is that they will take out about $25 from your account for a validation test but it will immediately be put back.

Each box comes with a card listing the items sent and prices if you decide to keep any of the pieces.

Onto what I received!

Gorjana Mave Shimmer Ring – $40.00
This ring is so beautiful and I am still debating on whether or not I should purchase this. I can see myself wearing it often but I do wish it was a size larger! I’ll probably wear this a couple more times before deciding on whether or not to purchase it.

Margaret Elizabeth Teardrop Bangle in Labradorite – $88.00

I really like how this bangle looks but I do not like it on me. I tried so hard loving these types of bangles but I just do not like the way they fit on me. I think I need to play around with this a bit more because this piece is super gorgeous.

Robyn Rhodes Sam Necklace – $88.00
I love this necklace, it’s super cute and I have worn it quite a bit! I wish the chain was a tiny bit longer though and I’m not sure if it’s meant to look this way but the pendant seems a little beat up, mainly on the gold detailing.

Overall, I did like this month’s picks more than last month’s…which is strange since I do prefer silver over gold! I will be receiving my last of the three month period next month so I’m super excited for what my stylist picks out for me!

If you’re interested in trying out Rocksboxyou can get your first month FREE by using code“glamourandgigglesxoxo”
This code is only valid for 30 days, after 30 days this code will only be able to give you a 50% discount off your first month.

Let me know your thoughts on this monthly subscription!

April 2015 Beauteque Head to Toe Tonymoly Bag Review

Beauteque is one of my favorite websites to shop at when I’m looking for Asian beauty and skincare products! They have an AMAZING variety of products – I’m particularly addicted to their sheet masks!

The Head to Toe bag is not part of a subscription service, it is a monthly limited edition bag featured on Beauteque’ website! Each bag includes 7-8 full sized products related to beauty, skincare, fashion, and lifestyle. This Head to Toe Tonymoly Bag can be purchased on Beauteque’s website for $28 + shipping.
This month’s theme features the brand Tonymoly! Past themes included Milk and Pink!
I love how Beauteque featured a brand this month, Tonymoly definitely is a brand I enjoy and they have some of the CUTEST packaging ever! The bag all the items came in this month is a blue and white drawstring bag, I’m not sure what I’ll use it for yet but I’m positive I’ll find use for it soon!
Each bag comes with an information card detailing all the products listed
Onto the products!
Gold Black Sugar Mask Scrub – $11.00

Face Mix Primer Lip Concealer – $12.00
This scrub removes dead skin cells and is said to provide nutrition from the gold and honey extracts. I was excited for the scent of this but sadly I couldn’t smell anything at all. I know it’ll come in handy because my face does suffer from dryness and I always could use a good scrub to remove dead cells!
I honestly had no idea a lip concealer existed and I don’t own a lip primer so I’m super excited to try this one out! It’s meant to even out the color of my lips, give off maximum color of lippies, and is moisturizing so that’s a huge plus! I’m waiting to try this out on a day I’ll be gone for a long time.

Tangerine Whitening Hand Cream – $12.00

Kiss Kiss Lip Scrub – $10.00

Pumice Stone – $3.00 each

The hand cream and lip scrub have the cutest packaging ever, I just want to put them on display! I’m a sucker for hand creams so I’m glad included this in the bag. It smells just like tangerine and is super moisturizing, I know I’ll be using it everyday! This cream has Vitamin C that improves skin’s texture.

Customers were sent either a lip scrub or lip balm. I’m glad I got the scrub because I have so many balms at the moment! I’ve only used Lush’s Mint Julip lip scrub so I was glad to try something different! This scrub is more creamy and has fewer granules so it’s definitely more gentle than using something like the Mint Julip. I didn’t expect to like this scrub as much as I did, I found it to be moisturizing and it did the job just as well as my other scrub!

The foot stones are super cute and I love the two colors I got! I don’t scrub my feet as often as I should but now that I have these I might get into the habit more…hopefully!

Make HD Straight Cream – $16.00

Strawberry Seeds 3 Step Nose Pack – $3.00
This hair straightening duo is probably the only thing I won’t use in this bag. As someone who has crazy curly hair and always wanted straight hair, I had my fair shares of getting straightening perms and none have worked for me. With these two products, you’re supposed to apply the first tube to your hair and wash it out with warm water in 10-20 minutes, then blow dry your hair with cool air. After that, take the product from the second tub and leave it in for 5-10 minutes and wash it off and blow dry.
I’ve used nose strips before but I never used a 3 step pack so it will be fun and interesting to try out! You place the first sheet on your nose for 15-20 minutes, then you remove it. You then wet your nose and place the 2nd strip and take it off after 15-20 minutes. Lastly, you take the third sheet and leave it on your nose for 5-10 minutes. This whole process should clean the pores on your nose and moisturize it! I have TONS of blackheads on my nose so I’m really excited to try it out see the results.
With Beauteque’s prices, this bag retails for $68.00 but prices do vary on other websites – it’s still an amazing value for the $28 + shipping! I know I will be using everything in this bag except the Perm Kit. I’m most excited about the Tangerine Cream, Lip Scrub, and Primer! I’m glad Beauteque featured a bag specifically with Tonymoly because it’s a great chance to try some of their amazing products, plus their packaging is adorable!

If you’re interested in purchasing this bag, you can do so here!

My Most Used Lippies + Swatches

Hello gorgeous!

Today I’ll be sharing my most used lipsticks and glosses. I have 9 lippies I reach for more often than others so let’s take a look at them!

These are in no specific order – actually, that’s a lie, I just realized my most used lippie is the first one in this photo, I didn’t do that on purpose, I promise! The other 8, however, are in no specific order. I’ll also include links and prices below.

Let’s check out the lipsticks/stains first!

Buxom Full On Lipstick in Acapulco – $19.00

Cynthia Rowley Creamy Lip Stain in Valentine – $20.00

ColourPop Lippie Stix in Lumiere – $5.00

Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in Get Ready – $18.00

Hikari Lipstick in Cabernet – $13.00

The Buxom Acapulco was the first lipstick I ever bought! I LOVE the color, when swatched, it looks like a deep lilac color but since my lips are a little more brownish, it shows up a bit more red/pink/burgundy as you can see from my profile photo on the top right of my blog! This is the first lippie I’ll be finishing up completely, and I’m so ready to buy a second one.  I love Buxom lippies because they leave a minty, cooling sensation on the lips!

The Cynthia Rowley Lip Stain was a prize I won in a giveaway and I love the color, it’s a lightweight formula on my lips and although it looks more pinkish in the swatch, it’s actually a lot more of a corally color. I do want to purchase a few more of her lip stains but I’m waiting to rack up some Birchbox points since they’re $20 a piece.

ColourPop’s Lumiere is the shade youtuber Kathleen Lights came out with and I had to get it! I love how it’s super affordable and and such a pretty everyday color! I can sense a ColourPop haul coming in the near future since her new eyeshadow quad is almost out (or is out already? I’m not sure).

Bare Minerals Moxie lippies are super creamy and I love their pigmentation, I originally got a sample size in an Ipsy bag last year and loved it so much that I had to buy the full size!

The Hikari is from November’s Lip Monthly and I think Ipsy had sampled it around then as well. This shade is super pretty and I really like the formula because it’s creamy and applies so smoothly on my lips.

Now for the glosses!

I’m not a huge fan of lip glosses but these four are ones I reach for all the time!

Beauty For Real Lip Cream in Always There – $22.00

Mac Cremesheen Glass in Over Indulgence – $20.00

Buxom Full On Lip Polish in Isabella – $19.00

Buxom Full On Lip Polish in Dominique – $19.00

The Beauty For Real is literally the PERFECT pink for me, I didn’t know it would be as pigmented as it is and it’s just perfection in a lip cream form, I love it!

The Mac Over Indulgence is also PERFECTION in a bottle, I can’t even express how perfect of a nude it is on my lips, I wear it all the time, I don’t know what to say besides P-E-R-F-E-C-T-I-O-N! This probably ranks #2 right after my Buxom in Acapulco.

The last two glosses, Buxom Lip Polishes in Isabella and Dominique are not full sizes, I got them last year in the Lip Gloss Roulette. I love these two because they’re great to apply over any lipstick or lipliner I use and like I said about the Buxom Lipstick, I love the cool sensation they leave on my lips!

Well there you have it! My most used lipsticks, I think I’d say the Buxom’s Acapulco would rank #1 and Mac’s Over Indulgence ranks #2 while the rest are equally my favorites!

Do you use any of these lippies? Let me know what your favorite or most used lippies are!

April 2015 Beauteque BB Bag Review

Beauteque is one of my favorite websites to shop at when I’m looking for Asian beauty and skincare products! They have an AMAZING variety of products – I’m particularly addicted to their sheet masks!

The BB Bag is their monthly subscription service. Each month Beauteque will send you a bag full of 7-8 full sized products that are beauty, skincare, fashion, and lifestyle related. Every bag also has a few products where customers can choose options such as lotion scent, lipstick color, perfume flavor, etc. Options will be emailed in a survey format on the 15th of each month and if you do not choose by the 20th, the Beauteque team will choose for you.
Customers can subscribe for month to month, 3, 6, or 12 month prepaid packages. Subscribers are billed on the 15th of each month if a month to month option is chosen. If you subscribe after the 5th of any month, you will receive the next month’s bag.
Here’s a look at their pricing plan:
  • Month to Month – $24/month
  • 3 Months – $24/month
  • 6 Months – $23/month
  • 12 Months -$22/month
Shipping Costs:
  • USA – $3.95/month
  • Canada – $5.95/month
  • Europe – $8.95/month
You can also gift subscriptions to friends or family!
This month’s theme was “Mad for Plaid” and I LOVE the bag they sent this month! It can fit tons of products, I know I’ll be using it often!
I think this month’s theme only referred to the bag, not the products. Each bag also comes with a card detailing the products sent.
Onto the products!
Holika Holika Honey Sleeping Pack in Blueberry – $19.00

Its Skin Macaron Lip Balm in Strawberry – $9.00

Mizon Water Volume Aqua Gel Cream – $12.00
The sleeping mask smells amazing, it’s not too strong and the consistency is great, I thought it would be sticky and messy but that wasn’t the case at all – it absorbed into my skin super quick! I’ve only used it a couple times but I love it so far, it’s been really moisturizing. The card states that the canola moisturizes, blueberry fights blemishes, and acerola promotes collagen growth. The packaging itself super cute, I leave it on the shelf next to my bed so I can use it right before going to sleep!
The lip balm is so cute, the strawberry scent isn’t super strong, which I prefer, and I know I’ll use this often, I really want to get all of the flavors available, they’d make a cute collection!
The Mizon Moisturizer is formulated with Alaskian glacial waters, coral reef waters, and more. I’m a little confused since the card says this product is a shaving cream when it’s not. I do like Mizon and this product feels super refreshing on my skin and it has a really light, pleasant scent to it.
Hanaka Magic Garden Series Sheet Masks in Chamomile and Rose – $4.00

Holika Holika S Body Jiggle Patch – $7.00
I LOVE sheet masks so seeing them in my BB Bag makes me super happy! I haven’t tried this specific brand before but I love the two Beauteque sent since the Chamomile mask is oil controlling and the Rose one is a whitening/brightening mask. These two are perfect for me and the packaging is gorgeous!
I’ve never used a patch like this before but it will be interesting to try out. You’re supposed to fill the patch with the gel and attach it to the desired part of the body – I’ll probably use it on my stomach – and remove it after 30-40 minutes. It should firm up and revitalize skin to balance the body. I’m skeptical on these types of products but it will be super fun to test out!
Hanaka Camellia Powder Wash – $11.00

Lameila Razor – $8.00
The Hanaka packet has 7 small pouches with cleanser powder, all you have to do is add water and you’re set to go! It’s meant to be hydrating and is fragrance and alcohol free. I wanted to try these out this past week but I’m thinking of saving them for my trip next month!
I’m not sure how this razor retails for $8.00 but it will definitely be used! Although I do prefer to wax, I do have those moments where shaving is more convenient.
The total retail value of this bag is $68.00 but I know there are some products that can be found for a lower prices on other websites. The value still exceeds the total price – $27.95!
Overall, I really do like April’s bag! I know I’ll be using all the products included and I especially love the Holika Holika Sleeping Pack, Its Skin Lip Balm, and the Hanaka Sheet Masks! I do wish they included a makeup item but nevertheless, I still think this bag is full of great items. I feel like I say this every month but I love the actual bag they sent – it’s something I’ll be using often for sure! If you’re into Asian Beauty, I definitely recommend checking out this BB Bag
You can subscribe to Beauteque’s BB Bag here!

LuxePineapple “Small Luxuries” Limited Edition Box of Joy Unboxing + Review

I was super excited to unbox this LE Box of Joy since there was a lot of buzz going around about it plus I was intrigued when LuxePineapple mentioned it would be full of products from brands that have not been featured in their boxes before!

For those who don’t know, LuxePineapple is an un-subscription service where they release Boxes of Joy and Mystery Boxes a few times each month and they also have their own shop where they sell TONS of beauty products at discounted prices! I’m crazy addicted to LuxePineapple, not only because of their great deals, but also because of their kindness, positivity, and fantastic customer service – I really think other companies can learn loads from them.

This Limited Edition Box of Joy came packaged in a gorgeous, sleek pink box and was wrapped with a white ribbon. The theme of this box is “Small Luxuries” and the contents of the box are meant to keep you feeling rejuvenated and beautiful! The price of this box is $42.50 + FREE shipping within the US (shipping to Canada is a flat rate of $7 and you can get a quote for international shipping by emailing them). This is an amazing deal considering that all of the items have a total retail value of $90!

This box features 3 independent brands, ArtOnIt Makeup, Elucx, and Ouish Boutique, and none of these brands have been featured in any beauty box before!

Here’s a little more info about each brand that was provided by LuxePineapple.

Ouish Boutique

When the founder of Ouish was young, she would pick up dandelions and her mother would tell her to blow on them and make a wish.  Many years later, her wish came true and she is now the founder of her very own bath and body boutique. Nadia, the amazing owner is here to make your “ouish” of a few relaxing minutes to yourself come true. Each Box includes either a day OR a night cream. Both formulas are gentle and the Ouish signature scent will fill the air with notes of hibiscus and acai sprinkled with currant, plumeria, jasmine and amber.

Onto the products!

Ouish Boutique Acai & Hibiscus Day Cream – $15.95

Ouish Boutique Soothing Eye Serum – $9.95

Ouish Boutique Vanilla Hazelnut Bath Muffin – $4.95

This cream is lightweight yet rich in Vitamin E to help moisturize and regenerate the skin. It smells so good, I love that it has Vitamin E! I’ve been using this for about a week now and it is moisturizing and feels great on my skin, it’s super moisturizing and it absorbs quick into my skin! I really want to try the night cream they have..I’m thinking of purchasing it soon.

This serum is filled with antioxidant properties to soothe and relieve tired eyes. Its non oily texture nurtures and moisturizes the skin with the gentle care of coconut oil, aloe vera and vitamin E. Bonus: this product can also act as an eye makeup remover. Roll a liberal amount around eyes and wipe off. You will be left with clean and moisturized skin around your eyes. I love the fact that this serum is in a rollerball form, it makes applying it so much faster and less messier! I’ve been using it every night for a week, I wish I took before and after pictures to see if it made any difference. I haven’t tried it as a makeup remover yet but I do intend to because the struggle of taking off my eyeliner is all too real.

This muffin is packed with cocoa butter and will leave your skin moisturized. I’m not the biggest bath person but I do enjoy using bath bombs and such fromt ime to time! I’ll save this for a day I’m in the mood for a bath bomb, it’ll perfect for relaxation! Also, might I say that I love the packaging, actually all of the Ouish products have cute packaging!

ArtOnIt Le rouge à lèvres de caractère Renoir – $25.00

ArtOnIt Eclat Visage Angelo – $25.00

Elucx Rose Absolute Lip Balm – $9.00

This is the perfect coral lipstick; not to orange, nor to pink.  This shade is wearable by almost every complexion and has been selected especially for the Pineapple Lovelies. It’s very creamy and highly pigmented. This lipstick won’t fade, feather or smudge. It is long lasting and the anti-oxidents and vitamin C moisturize and nourish. Well..the description pretty much says it all! I LOVE this lipstick, I’ll provide swatches below, but it’s such a gorgeous shade, like I honestly cannot get over how pretty the color is! It applies lighter on my lips but I use a dark lipliner to make the color pop more. This is honestly the perfect shade for spring, I know I’ll use it often! This lippie has lasted the few hours I was out and did a great job with staying put, I can see why it costs so much! Also, the packaging is adorable, I definitely want to get a couple other colors from this brand because the consistency is amazing!

This highlighter will blend easily into your skin by adding a glow to the bone structure while absorbing excess oils. This gorgeous formula is talc free, gluten free and paraben free. I don’t use highlighter often but I sure will now with this beauty, I’ve swatched it more times that I should have because it’s SO PRETTY! It has some shimmer to it and blends out super beautifully. I love the packaging for the highlighter as well and also, there’s a mirror on the inside!

This beautiful balm is made with jojoba seed oil, rose petals and beeswax. These ingredients are certified organic.  Elucx believes that whatever goes in the skin should be pesticide and preservative free. I think the rose petal in the center of the balm is gorgeous touch, I’ve used this a few times and love the consistency and it moisturizes my lips well! I keep it on the shelf near my bed and use it each night before going to bed.

Swatches of the ArtOnIt highlighter and lipstick
Pictures don’t do the swatches justice at all but I am telling you all, the highlighter and lipstick are GORGEOUS! I literally drooled over both of these when I first swatched them.
Here’s a closer look at the highlighter. This is probably my favorite packaging out of all of the products included in this box!

Well there you have it, I am loving EVERYTHING that was included in this box, at first I was iffy about all the products coming from brands that were unfamiliar to me but once I began to play around with it all I was really thankful – I’m definitely going to explore these independent companies more! I really appreciate LuxePineapple working so hard to curate such unique and fun boxes for their Pineapple Lovelies.

My favorite products are probably the eye serum, highlighter, lipstick, day cream, lip balm, and bath muffin..oops that’s everything. I definitely recommend purchasing this box if you’re interested in trying new brands. The total value of this box is $90.00 LuxePineapple selling it for $42.50 – this is a great price, especially since most of these are hardly found on sale. Also, since Mother’s Day is right around the corner..how amazing of a gift would this make?

I am not even kidding when I say this box is perfection, everyone needs some Ouish Boutique, ArtOnIt, and Eclux in their life..that is all.

This box will be released at noon CST today on their website here! Just a heads up, LuxePineapple‘s boxes tend to sell out super quick!

What are your thoughts on LuxePineapple‘s Limited Edition Box of Joy, will you be purchasing one? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!
