Happy Sunday!

So I have been wanting to test out new blog series and techniques and one of my lovely friends – Aimee – came up with the idea of having a lip swatch fest every week! Doing lip swatches is very new to me and I use my iPhone 6 to take all my photos for my blog and Instagram but I’m excited to see how this goes.

I’m going to start off Lip Swatch Sunday with the Palladio Velvet Matte Cream Lip Colors! I bought three of their shades at Sally Beauty a few weeks ago when they had their buy 2 get 1 free deal on all makeup. They cost $6.99 ($6.29 with a Sally Beauty Card) each at Sally Beauty and $7.00 on the Palladio website.

My friend, Celina, said wonderful things about these so I wanted to give them a shot and bought three shades. Left to right and top to bottom: Sateen, Boucle, and Suede.

Here’s a description of these lip colors straight from Sally Beauty’s website:
Palladio Velvet Matte Cream Lip Color is a full-coverage, velvety lip color that features a lightweight matte finish that is sure to last. This lip color is enriched with vitamin E and aloe, Velvet Matte Lip Color soothes and softens the lips making them look beautiful for hours.
Before I review them individually, one thing to note is that the true colors do not match what you see through the packaging. I made the mistake of choose colors based on what I saw through the tubes than actually looking at the swatch labels near the price tags.
Sateen is a semi bright white, milky pink. This is my least favorite of the three because it applies super patchy. It took way more time than needed to get an even application.
Boucle is a mauve-y shade with hints of brown, brick, and plum colors. I find Boucle to be a less bold version of Suede. Also, this applied perfectly – no patchiness or anything!
Suede is definitely my favorite of the three – it’s a bit more burgundy/red than Boucle. This, too, applied without any problems.
As for commonalities of the formula, these lip colors do not completely dry matte. There is a slight tackiness to them but nothing terrible. I would definitely recommend these, Suede and Boucle more than Sateen, if you’re looking for velvety matte liquid lipsticks. These are on the more affordable side and they are long lasting and somewhat moisturizing!
I would recommend buying these at Sally Beauty if you have a members card (if you don’t I recommend signing up for one – it only costs $5 each year and they give you a coupon for $5 off your next purchase after signing up) because they would be about 70 cents cheaper!
What are your thoughts on Palladio Velvet Matte Cream Lip Colors? Do you have a favorite shade? Also, please let me know if there are any specific lippies or brands you would like to see in future Lip Swatch Sunday’s!
