Hi loves! Grab a snack or some bubbly because this is going to be a long one.
I am so excited to be writing this post because, if you asked me a few years ago, it’s something I never thought I would have the experience and knowledge to write. I wasn’t always a makeup enthusiast, in fact I started wearing makeup when I was about 19 or 20..and that wasn’t even a full face – just basic foundation, a little eyeliner, and some gloss. Ever since then, I began to do more and more research and spent countless hours watching beauty gurus on youtube and reading dozens of beauty blogs. A little over 5 years later, here I am ready to give beauty beginners some information I wish I had when I first started.
As I dove deeper into the beauty realm, many of my friends and family members would ask me questions about makeup – what foundation to use, what’s a highlighter, what’s the difference between matte and sheer, what do these products even do, etc. The fact that I was able to answer all their questions confidently made me realize it wouldn’t hurt to give my thoughts here on my blog.
This will be the first of a three-part series! As I mentioned above, this post will contain information on makeup products and what they are/do. The next series will do with the best places to shop for makeup, and the last part will do with specific product recommendations!
One of the perks of being a blogger, influencer, youtuber, etc. is having the opportunity to work with brands we’ve always adored! If you’re lucky, they’ll contact you directly but often times creators like ourselves will take the first step and pitch to brands in hopes of starting a wonderful relationship.
This post has been one of the most highly requested topics and the main reason I held off on posting is that I didn’t think I could give you the best advice and tips..until now that is! Instead of telling you exactly how to pitch to brands, I’ve collaborated with several beauty influencers and bloggers to give you the biggest things you should and should not do when it comes to contacting brands.
Revlon released their Street Chic Super Lustrous Lipstick Collection this summer with 12 beautiful shades – 6 new shades and 6 existing shades. These 12 shades are inspired by global trends around the world! They’re meant to capture the spirit and style of women worldwide.
I love the idea behind Revlon using global styles and trends as inspiration for this collection! As for the lipsticks go, I’ve used a couple from their Super Lustrous line before but all twelve of these shades are brand new to me.
I love being a social media influencer. I’ve been giving my opinions and reviewing products and brands, mostly beauty related, for almost 4 years now! I feel like I can now start to offer advice, tips, trick – whatever you may call it to others who’d like to be an influencer and/or grow as one.
One perk of being an influencer is receiving complimentary products from various brands and companies. There are different ways to receive products to review but the one I’ll be talking about in this post includes third party companies that connect influencers to brands and vice versa. There are tons of platforms that offer services like this and I have tested out quite a few of them. Below I’ll be listing the four I’ve had the most success with. While my niche is beauty, all four of these offer products for fashion, fitness, health, and lifestyle influencers as well.
Before I get into these platforms, I just want to make it clear that I’m not here to tell you to become a half ass influencer to get free things. That is NOT the point of me sharing my experiences with you.
The palette that so many people have been waiting for is finally here! Morphe Brushes and Jaclyn Hill teamed up again to bring us a palette full of 35 shades created by the ever so beautiful and one of my personal favorites, Jaclyn Hill! Jaclyn had full creative control in this project and from the packaging to the shades to the formula, it’s clear she poured her heart and soul into this palette.
The only other Morphe Palettes I own are the two collabs with Jaclyn Hill and Kathleen Lights, both which I adore greatly. From the few days I’ve tested this particular palette, I can for sure say I will be using this frequently. I’ll go into detail below but if you’re here for the giveaway, scroll completely down – the Rafflecopter widget will be at the end of this post.

Alright beauties, this is a long overdue review. I mean..I’ve used up 3 of these Urban Decay Naked Skin One and Done Hybrid Complexion Perfectors (my god this is a mouthful!) already and am well onto finishing up my fourth bottle. So yes, it’s about darn time I reviewed this product!
I had been using Urban Decay’s Naked Skin Ultra Definition Liquid Foundation before I saw this hit the shelves and did enjoy it but somedays I found it leaving my skin a tad bit oily. That didn’t stop me from using 2 whole bottles though! Fast forward to when this particular product hit the shelves. I was so intrigued because it stated it was a skin treatment that provided the effects of a sheer foundation. It’s also meant to blur imperfections, even skin tone, and be a long lasting – all day wear.
I’ve tried dozens and dozens of foundations and I always rely on this one for daily wear. Why? Because it does exactly what it’s meant to do.
A full makeup line of products inspired by our favorite stories? Now that is a major dream come true for me! I’m a huge bookworm so when I saw Storybook Cosmetics announce they had big plans with collabs and products, I constantly stalked their Instagram account. They first launched a set of wand shaped makeup brushes which I was lucky to grab in the first release. Then they announced they were working on this palette that I’m about to review for you all! I was so happy to preorder and although shipping commenced a few months after preordered, it was well worth the wait!
