Ultra HGF Youth Serum Review

A couple of weeks ago, I was asked to review a product from SOBO Skin Care!

Sobo Skin Carewas built on a clear philosophy of what should (and shouldn’t) be in quality skin care products. Our primary focus has always been to formulate cleansers, toners, creams and serums that are made with as many natural organic ingredients as possible, but without compromising the efficacy that women expect. To accomplish this we combine wonderful organic ingredients like orange flower extract, hops and strawberry oil with others proven to provide visible results like hyaluronic acid, human growth factor and ceramide 3 to effectively and gently rejuvenate skin.

SOBO is dedicated to setting a new gold standard in the years to come for indie skin care products of all types. Natural, wholesome, honest, and effective — that’s the SOBO value system in a nutshell.

The product I was asked to review was their Ultra HGF Youth Serum! Here’s a little information about the product

— This innovative youth formula leverages the power of proven acetyl tetrapeptide-2 to help restore your skin to its former glory and help prevent signs of future aging. Skin’s critical immune functions are also boosted while the production of healthy, youthful skin cells is uniquely supported and accelerated. Light but potent formula also moisturizes dry skin and smooths for a glowing, velvety appearance.

I received a sample of the Ultra HGF Youth Serum in the mail and have been using it for almost a week now and there’s still a ton more product left to use!

This serum doesn’t seem to have any fragrance, which I liked! I’m not a huge fan of serums that have a scent to them. I also love the feel of this serum, it’s not heavy at all and it feels almost like water! I used this product right before applying my Iope Moisturizer!

I don’t have many fine lines or wrinkles so I wasn’t able to see the results in that aspect but I found it to be super moisturizing! My skin has been super dry lately and I noticed this serum to moisturize my skin more than just using my moisturizer alone!

Here are some other products by Sobo Skin Care!

 Anti Aging Cream Resveratrol

— This anti-aging cream is an exceptionally pure multi-peptide complex with organic moisturizers. Light but intense serum formula delivers a powerful wrinkle-fighting cocktail that includes resveratrol, squalene, and hyaluronic acid to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Soothing, all-natural jojoba oil and apricot kernel oil work together to moisturize and smooth for a healthy, youthful glow and drastically improved overall appearance.

Anti Aging Eye Serum

— Moisture is the key to the youngest-looking, most velvety skin under the sun and this innovative under-eye serum really delivers and then some. Light, comfortable silicone-based moisturizing complex protects the skin around the eyes from puffiness, dryness and harmful elements that contribute to a tired appearance. A collection of essential lipids accelerates healing, promotes the production of healthy skin cells, and provides stellar protection after procedures like microdermabrasion and laser therapy. Gentle, hypoallergenic formula is perfect for all skin types.

Essential Moisturizing Cream

— This rich and effective cream combines everything your skin needs to look and feel its absolute best in one convenient product. Powerful antioxidants and anti-inflammatories work together to fight aging and relieve the effects of stress on skin. Rich emollients work to return dehydrated skin to the peak of smoothness and glory. A suite of vitamins, nutrients, and essential oils work together with replenishing hyaluronic acid and retinol to promote a healthful, vibrant appearance.

September 2014 Birchbox Review

Before I get started, I have to say that this month has got to be my favorite box ever! The box itself was gorgeous and the products chosen for me were beyond perfect!

Birchbox is a monthly beauty sampling subscription service that costs $10/month!

Birchbox is one of my favorite subscription services because I find myself actually using and loving everything (or almost everything) I receive! I’ve discovered many new brands from this sub!

Another reason I love Birchbox is their INCREDIBLE point system! For every item in your box you review, you receive 10 Birchbox points, which is equal to $1 in the Birchbox store. These points add up since you can get $5 or more worth of store credit each month!

Onto my box!

image

Each box comes with a card detailing which products Birchbox chose for you!

image

As usual, I peeked on the Birchbox app to see what I would be receiving. I tried so hard not to but I couldn’t help myself!

image

Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser – .2 oz – $1.65

I heard great things about this product so I’m crazy excited to try this Suki Cleanser! I’m always in search of exfoliators to try and this Suki cleanser is made up of all natural ingredients, including lemongrass and chamomile, which is perfect for me! It also smells really great!

Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream- .1 oz – $1.28

I feel like I’ve used this brand before but I can’t remember when or which product I used! The fact that Yu-Be has been Japan’s top selling skin cream since the 1950’s really caught my attention! Sometimes my skin gets super dry to the point that my moisturizers don’t help! I’m intrigued to see how this one works!

image

Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm in Honey Nectar – FULL SIZE! – $8.00

I heard great things about this Pixi Lip Balm and was hoping I’d get a color I would be able to use often and I did!! I’m so glad Birchbox sent me this lip balm in a nude color rather than something bright! I’ll be able to use this every day! In fact, I already began to use it and love how it feels! I’ll most likely be purchasing more of these with my Birchbox Points!

Curl Keeper Gel – 1 oz – $2.19

I love seeing hair products for curls in my Birchbox because I’m still looking for a product that works with my thick curly/wavy hair. I can’t wait to try this out and see how it works!

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Vacuum Cleaner – .25 oz – $11.25

Another product I’ve heard nothing but great things about! Again, I was super happy to see this product in my Birchbox! I’ve always wanted to try this product out and see how well it gets rid of my blackheads! I also think it’s pretty neat how the gel turns blue once it’s dry!

September’s Birchbox is my all time favorite! I can’t even begin to describe how much I love all the products I got! I paid $10 for this box and the value of the products was around $24! I’ll also be receiving $5 in store credit for reviewing all of the products!

If you’re interested in receiving a box full of amazing samples every month for a low price I highly recommend subscribing to Birchbox

You can sign up here and you can use coupon code BBKIWI100 to get 100 Birchbox which is equivalent to $10 to spend in the Birchbox store!

Conscious Box Review

This review was supposed to go up over a week ago but I didn’t realize how exhausted school was going to make me!

Conscious Box is a monthly subscription service that features various products like food, beauty, and household items! What’s great about this subscription service is that they aim to introduce you to healthier options for everything in your every day life! You can choose to purchase a “Plus” box (which includes 8-12 items per month) or the “Taster” box (includes 5-8 items). The price for the Plus box starts at $16.95 while the price of the Taster box starts at just $6.95!

What I really love about Conscious box is that you can choose one of three curated boxes, vegan, gluten-free, or classic!

The theme of the August Box was “Wanderlust”

I’m think I received a Classic Plus Box but I’m not entirely sure. Also, Conscious Boxes are made from recycled materials!

Each box comes with a card that lists out the products in your box and a short description of each!image

The first thing I saw in my box were these cute luggage tags!

image

I think they would be be fun to use when I go travel!

Farmer’s Market Foods: Organic Pumpkin and Organic Coffee Co: Java Love

image

I was really happy to see both of these items in my box! I’m definitely going to make my own pumpkin pie this year with the organic pumpkin! I was beyond excited when I saw a sample of the coffee! I am a HUGE coffee addict and I will be able to make 6 cups with this sample! I’m also excited to try these two products because they’re healthier options than what I would usually use. Own Beauty – Anti-Aging Trio

image

This trio comes with samples of eye cream, night cream, and firming silk concentrate! I was happy I received samples of these products because I still haven’t found the right eye and night creams for me! There’s a good amount of product in these samples so I’m sure I’ll be able to get plenty of uses from them! Vibrant Health: Green Vibrance Junior, Barney-Butter: Almond Butter, Simple Nature: Natural Shampoo and Body Wash, and Amki: Sesame Snaps

image

The Green Vibrance Junior is for kids so I passed this along to my cousin! I’m sure he will love to try it! I’ve never tried almond butter before so I was happy to see this sample in my box! I love how it’s low on saturated fats compared to peanut butter! The body wash/shampoo intrigued me because I’ve never seen a product that can be used as both! I like how it’s made from shea and mango butters! I wish the samples were larger, I don’t think I will be able to try it on both. I’m not a huge fan of Sesame Snaps but this one is gluten-free so I’ll definitely be trying them! Who knows, I may just fall in love with them! Recycled Paper Greetings: Birthday Card, Bioderived Picnic Kits: Utensils Set, Urban Remedy – $15 Credit

image

I found this birthday card to be super cute! It’ll definitely be put to use since I have a few birthdays coming up in a few weeks! The utensil set is eco friendly and perfect for a picnic! I’m glad Conscious Box introduced me to these kits, it’ll be great to use during family outings!

Last but not least, Conscious Box sent an envelope full of coupons to use!

image

I was impressed with this Conscious Box. I think it’s a great way to be introduced to healthier alternatives! Everything I received will be put to use – I think this is the first time everything I got in a subscription box will be used!

If you’re interested in subscribing to Conscious Box, you can do so here!

I received this item in exchange for my honest, unbiased opinion. All opinions expressed are my own and I would not promote an item if I did not think it would spark interest to my readers.

One Direction – “The Looks Collection” Review

//

So a couple of weeks ago Brandbacker gave me the opportunity to try out and review One Direction’s new makeup line! Although I’m not as huge as a fan of the boys as I was in the past, I was still crazy excited to try out the makeup!

“The Looks Collections” comprises three keepsake tins inspired by One Direction’s globe-conquering albums, “Up All Night, “Take Me Home” and the latest chart topper, ‘Midnight Memories.” Each tin comes complete with everything you need to show off your personality. Are you a rock n’ roll girl, a fun party girl or the girl next door? They have just the right collection for you, along with illustrations to help show you just how to get your perfect look. All your beauty essentials are housed in a LIMITED EDITION collectible keepsake tin with removable sleeve, complete with ONE DIRECTION doodle stencils to decorate your keepsake tin and make it uniquely your own!

I don’t think International release dates have been announced (correct me if I’m wrong) but “The Looks Collection” hit stores on August 25th! You can find these beauties at Macy’s, Dillards, and Beauty Brands and I believe they cost $28.99, which isn’t a bad price at all since you get so many great beauty products!

Before I received this set I had checked out the three different collections and hoped I was sent the Midnight Memories collection and I was super excited when I was sent this one!

image

Here’s a closer look at the inside of the tin! The inside cover shows different looks you can create!

image

Each collection also comes with an introductory card that shows what each collection looks like!

image

Here are some photos of the eyeshadow palette! I loved loved loved the colors! My favorites are “Don’t Forget Where You Belong” and “Midnight Memories”!

image

image

I swatched them all as well. I found that most colors pigmented and blended well but I needed to use more of “Don’t Forget Where You Belong” for the color to actually show up.

image

The kit also comes with stencils, black eye/body crayon, and mascara!

The body pencil is called “Better Than Words” and the mascara is called “Little Black Dress”.

image

image

I tried out these stencils and I wouldn’t use them on myself often but it would definitely be fun to use on my younger cousins!

The mascara is pretty nice, it doesn’t clump at all and it gives great volume to my lashes! I found it super easy to remove as well! I’ll definitely be using this often!

The Looks Collection also comes with a lipstick and lip gloss!

image

The lipstick is called “Best Song Ever” and the gloss is called “Through the Dark”.

image

I wasn’t sure how I was going to like these two colors but I became more comfortable after playing around with them! The lip gloss looked crazy bright when I swatched it but it wasn’t as bright when I put in on! I don’t think I could rock that red lipstick though! I, personally, prefer deep reds but I’ll still give this one another shot!

The last product in this box was a nail polish!

image

I LOVE the color! This polish is called “Right Now”.  I was really surprised with the quality, I’ve had it on for a few days and it still hasn’t chipped! I’m mentioning this because my other polishes from brands like OPI and ORLY usually chip within 2 days! This polish also dried really really fast! I applied 2 coats and my nails dried within 5 minutes!!!

Overall I’m pleased with this set! I was iffy about the eyeshadow and lip products but I love them more and more each time I use them!

I think this set is a great value for $29 since you get so many different products!

My favorite product is the nail varnish for sure! I’m also liking the lip gloss more and more after each time I use it!

Be sure to share your thoughts in my ask box!  Will you purchase The Looks Collection? From the photos in my review, what product would you be most excited to try out?

August 2014 Birchbox Review

This post may contain affiliate links.

I loved how they played with everyone’s names this month on the shipping label! I got “The Clever Priyanka Patel”

image

Each box comes with a card detailing which products were chosen for you and how to use them!

image

I tried so hard not to peek online but I failed..again so I knew what I was receiving!

image

image

LAQA & Co. Sheer Lip Lube Pencil – Bees Knees (Coral) FULL SIZE!! $18

I had no idea this would come in a full size! I love the color but it’s too light for my liking. I’ll most likely give this product away!

I noticed their set of 5 Sheer Lip Lube Pencils are $40 on the Birchbox site and I’m super tempted to buy it for the other colors!

image

Whish Shave Crave Shaving Cream – Acai Grapefruit – 22 mL $2.93

I’ve never used shaving cream before, I usually wax myself but on lazy days when I do shave, I use conditioner. I’ll definitely put this to use because I’ve been super lazy with waxing lately lol!

image

Catherine Malandrino Style de Paris Fragrance

This sample doesn’t say how much fragrance is in the container so I can’t estimate a price. However, I am not a fan of this scent. I’ll definitely not be using it but I’m sure my mom will find it to her liking!

image

K6 Skincare Clean Antioxidant Facial Cleanser – .25 FL OZ $1.50

This cleanser is vegan and paraban-free! It’s supposed to nourish your skin while cleaning it and it’s great for all skin types! I’m definitely excited to try this product out!

image

image

Noir Cosmetics Long – Wear Eyeliner – Full Size!! (I think lol!) $15

This was the product I was super duper excited for! I am a huge eyeliner junkie! I love love love trying new eyeliners! I’m already a huge fan of this one! It’s so smooth and super dark! I’m definitely putting it to the test on my first day of school, which is tomorrow!

This month’s Birchbox was great! I’m in love with 3/5 items I received and the other two will be given away. I paid $10 for this Birchbox and received around $37 worth of products and once I review all 5 items on the Birchbox website, I’ll receive $5 store credit!

August Lip Monthly Review

This is my first Lip Monthly subscription! Lip Monthly is a monthly subscription service that costs $10/month. Each month, Lip Monthly sends you a box, or in this month’s case, a bag of 4-5 lip products, and they include a “Monthly Mix Up”item as well!

I noticed Lip Monthly sent out their products in boxes in the past few months but this month everyone received a cute blue bag and I really love the change!

Each bag comes with a little card that lists out all the products and their retail price!

image

This month’s card also tells us that Lip Monthly received positive feedback regarding the City Color Cosmetics products from last month so they included more of the same brand in the August bag. I’ve never tried anything from City Color Cosmetics before so I didn’t really mind, and I was glad to hear that their company is cruelty free!

Let’s take a look at all the products I received in this bag!

image

City Color Cosmetics – Be Matte Lipstick in Phoebe – $3.99

image

I LOVE this color and texture! It’s creamy and pigments well! I’m really excited to try this color out and I’m sure I will be using this often!

image

City Color Cosmetics – Lip Balm in Ultra Pink – $2.99

image

I’m not a huge fan of colored lip balms but this color is so pretty, I’ll definitely be using it!

image

City Color Cosmetics – Magic Balm – $3.99

image

The packaging is super cute, I’m looking forward to trying it! The only issue I have is that I can’t find this product on their website! I don’t know if I didn’t look hard enough or if this product is discontinued. If anyone knows more about this Magic Balm please let me know!

image

Jesse’s Girl Cosmetics – Lip Gloss in Gypsy? – $4.99

image

I’ve never used anything by Jesse’s Girl and I really like the color of this gloss so I’m definitely looking forward to trying it! However, I’m really confused because my card says the color is called Lip Lock, yet the label on my gloss says Gypsy? I looked on their website and there’s no record of any Gypsy color and Lip Lock is much lighter than the gloss I have.

image

Monthly Mix Up – Pixi by Petra – Lid Last Shadow Pen in Glided Mink – $18

image

I’ve never used Pixi products either so I was glad Lip Monthly sent out this product! I love love love eyeshadows and I love this color! I already know I’ll be reaching out for it often!

Overall I am super duper happy with this bag! Everything I received is valued at around $34 and I think it’s a great deal when this bag only cost $10! Or $7 if you used the coupon code!

I also love that everything this month was FULL SIZED! I know I will be using everything from this bag!

If you’re interested in subscribing to Lip Monthlyjust click here! Also, be sure to use coupon code, “SUMMERLIPS” and your first bag will only cost $6.99!

I received this item in exchange for my honest, unbiased opinion. All opinions expressed are my own and I would not promote an item if I did not think it would spark interest to my readers.

Quick Julep Maven Review

I decided to give Julep Maven a shot with one of their deals.

Julep Maven is a monthly subscription service that sends their subscribers nail polish and beauty items! Julep is slightly on the pricier side compared to other subscription boxes I’ve subscribed to, $24.99/month, but I think it’s worth it if you’re a nail polish + beauty addict!

Luckily Julep has coupon codes for first time subscribers so I only had to pay shipping – $2.99 -for my first box! I’ll share the codes with you at the bottom of this post!

First time users take a quiz to see which welcome box they match to. I really like how users can pick which box they can purchase if they don’t like what the quiz chose for them! My result was “It Girl”

Here is a closer look at the nail polishes I received

image

I love the colors of all the nail polishes I received! I believe each polish is valued at $14, so I think this box was an amazing deal considering I only paid $2.99 shipping!

Here are some codes you can use to get your first box for free!

Become a Mavenimage now! You can use code FREEBOX to get your first box for free! Just pay shipping!

OR FOR A BETTER DEAL, if you are a Swagbucks user you might have seen the Julep ad! You can get 800 Swagbucks for using the coupon code, SWAGBUCKSFREE, and you would get the same deal! You can use the 800 Swagbucks for a $5 Amazon card (only 450 SB) or any other type of gift card!

DON’T GO ANYWHERE YET!

Be sure to read this post to see other limited edition welcome boxes with more items and a better value for the same price, $2.99 shipping!

Remember, this is a monthly subscription service so if you just want to try out a first box I advise you to use a prepaid gift card in case you forget to cancel your subscription.

If you have any questions, let me know!
