January 2015 Lip Monthly Review

For those who don’t know, Lip Monthly is a monthly subscription service that costs $10/month. Each month, Lip Monthly sends you a bag full of 4-5 lip products and they sometimes include a “Monthly Mix Up” item as well! Every subscriber usually gets the same products but I saw some variation in January’s bag.
What I love about Lip Monthly is that I get to try a bunch of lip products and brands that are new to me AND I’ve noticed most, if not all, of their products tend to be full sized!
I actually posted my December review about a week ago and just received January’s bag early this week!
Lip Monthly kindly sent me this bag to review.
Each bag comes with a card listing all the products that are featured that month:

I love the design of this card, it’s super cute!

Mica Beauty Cosmetics Lip Color Pot in Velvet Rose? – .FULL SIZE! $14.50
Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Laguna Beach – FULL SIZE $19.90
Harvey Prince Fragrance Sampler in Damask Rose – $12
Eco Lips Tinted Balm in Rose Quartz – FULL SIZE $4.49
First thing I want to get out of the way, I think my Mica Lip Color Pot is labeled wrong. The label says 9 Velvet Rose but that’s one of their tinted lip balms, not lip pots. I’ll update you all once I hear back from Lip Monthly or Mica Beauty!
Anywho ~ the Mica Beauty Lip Color Pot is a gorgeous shade! I’ve tried one of their tinted lip balms in the past and loved that as well! I’ll definitely be wearing this color in these last few months of winter!
Ofra is a brand I came across from this sub and I’m so glad they sent another product from them! This liquid lipstick is such a pretty color, I know I’ll be using this often!
I usually detest getting fragrance samplers in beauty bags but I do love me some Harvey Prince! I’m currently using their Cherie Blossom and LOVE it! This Damask Rose smells a lot like…roses. Okay wow that was a terrible description but if you like the smell of roses this perfume is the one for you!
I feel like I got an Eco Lips product in a previous bag or a different subscription service but I love getting new lip balms! I always tend to loose mine and this one is cruelty free and has a nice tint to it!
Here are some swatches of the lip pot and liquid lipstick:

image
The total retail value of this bag is $50.89! That’s 5 times the amount of the price, what a steal! I definitely think Lip Monthly is worth subscribing to if you’re a fan of lip products!
I was going to say I wish they included more lipsticks/glosses in this bag but the monthly mix up is fun – I still love the shadow/highlighter from a few months ago and Harvey Prince is becoming one of my faves! Also they haven’t sent out a lip balm in a couple of months so I’m not too upset over that…it doesn’t hurt to have spare ones!
I think January’s bag was okay, and I say okay because I’m still head over heels in love with November’s Bag!

January 2015 Birchbox Review

So I got my Birchbox a little over a week ago and didn’t get a chance to write up this review until now but better late than never right?

For those who don’t know, Birchbox is a monthly beauty sampling subscription service that costs $10/month!

Birchbox is one of my favorite subscription services because I find myself actually using and loving everything (or almost everything) I receive! I’ve discovered many new brands from this sub!

Another reason I love Birchbox is their INCREDIBLE point system! For every item in your box you review, you receive 10 Birchbox points, which is equal to $1 in the Birchbox store. Something new they started this year is if you share your Birchbox on FB or Twitter you will get an additional 10 points! These points add up super fast since you can get $6 or more worth of store credit each month!

This month’s theme is “Let’s Do This” and can I just say how cute this box is? I love the colors and pattern! If you’re a subscriber chances are you already know this but for those who don’t, be sure to save your boxes every month – if you already don’t save them, let’s be real, many of us save and reuse these boxes like crazy! I remember one of Birchbox‘s videos said they were planning to do something special later on in the year!

Anywho ~ each box comes with a card detailing the products chosen for you – which I forgot to take a picture of…really Pri? FAIL!

Dr. Jart+Premium Beauty Balm SPF 45+ – 0.2 oz $5.20

Sumita Color Contrast Eyeliner in Jaipur Gold – .024 oz $4.80

Both of these items amount the price of what I paid for the box which is pretty cool! I’ve heard amazing things about this beauty balm, it provides light coverage and anti-aging benefits! However, after trying this 3-4 times in the past week, I have to say this product is not for me. I don’t know why but something in the formula makes my face super itchy when I had this beauty balm on!

As for the eyeliner, I’m having mixed feelings because I don’t know if I’ll use it as much I would like…which is why I’m debating on keeping it for myself or gifting it to a friend. Sumita eyeliners are super fun, I’ve used a few in the past so that makes it more difficult to let go of it since I know I’ll love the formula!

Paula’s Choice Resist C15 Super Booster – 0.12 oz $8.59? (I feel like I did the math wrong)

Essentiel Elements Wake Up Rosemary Body Lotion – 1.5 oz $3.56

Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask – 1 oz $4.95

The Super Booster sample is soooo tiny compared to what I expected from the packaging! It’s an anti-aging liquid that promotes brighter, firmer skin and fades dark spots. This is definitely going onto my swap shop on eDivv! The link is under my social medias in my description if you’re interested!

The body lotion smells soooo good, exactly like rosemary and mint!! It’s a lightweight hydrator and the rosemary and mint is supposed to be energizing. I’m holding off from using it until I finish up a few of my other lotions I have open right now.

I tried the Briogeo hair mask in the past and it did not work with my hair at all so this is going in my swap shop as well. It’s supposed to be super hydrating and it’s meant to strengthen and hydrate your hair with a blend of natural botanicals.

The total value of this box – assuming I did the math right – is $27.10, that’s almost 3 times what I paid!

I think this was an average box for me, it wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t amazing. I’m glad I got the Dr. Jart because I had been curious about the product for a while! The liner and lotion are definitely my favorite products in the box and hopefully I’ll be able to trade the super booster and hair mask with someone!

December 2014 Lip Monthly Review

For those who don’t know, Lip Monthly is a monthly subscription service that costs $10/month. Each month, Lip Monthly sends you a bag of 4-5 lip products, and they sometimes include a “Monthly Mix Up”item as well, and every subscriber receives the same bag as the other. What I love about Lip Monthly  is that I get to try a bunch of new products and brands and they so far I noticed that most, if not all, of the products have been full sizes!

I received an email in December saying they would send me December’s bag for review purposes but nothing showed up, however, I got an email last week saying January’s bag was on the way – but I actually got December’s bag instead!

Each bag comes with a card listing all the products that are featured that month.

image

December’s bag came with 4 FULL SIZED products!

LA Girl Automatic Liner in Wine – $5

Milani Brilliant Shine Gloss in Nude Touch – $4.99

Magnolia Makeup Matte Lip Color in Matador – $15

NYC Lipstick in Mocha – $2.99

I am absolutely excited for the LA Girl Liner because I don’t have many liners – probably 3 or 4 and they’re all pink so I’m happy to have one in a darker shade!

I love love love Milani and I love the shade of this lip gloss, I know I’ll be reaching for it often! I don’t have any lippies from them so I’m glad I can finally try one out!

This matte lip color was really thin and watery for me so I’ll be passing it along to someone. I really like the shade though, it’s a really nice red! One issue I had was with the packaging – for a lippie that’s $15 I expected the label to be put on straight, not crooked like it is (you can’t tell from the photo but it’s super crooked from the back) I know I wasn’t the only one who had this issue and after looking at their website, it seems like Magnolia Makeup changed their packaging for their matte lip colors.

This last lippie is a super pretty brown color but I don’t wear browns often so I’ll be passing this along as well! I couldn’t find this anywhere online besides amazon so I’m assuming these aren’t being made anymore – i hope it’s not super old!

Here are some swatches I took!

image

From left to right: LA Girl Lipliner in Wine, Milani Brilliant Shine Lip Gloss in Nude Touch, Magnolia Makeup Ultra Matte Lipstick in Matador, and NYC Ultra Moist Lipstick in Mocha

After washing the swatches off I noticed the three lippies on the right came off super quick, like zero trouble at all but the lip liner stayed on the longest – I was impressed!

The total value of this bag is around $28 and that’s almost triple the price of the cost! I really think Lip Monthly is a fun and inexpensive way to try out new lip products!

Birchbox Limited Edition Fresh Start Box Review

Birchbox recently released a new Limited Edition Box and I just had to get it! This Fresh Start Box contains a great number of beauty and wellness items and costs $42! I used coupon code TAKEOFF20 to get 20% off, I’m not sure if it’s still working but it’s definitely worth a shot!

The Fresh Start Box comes with a card detailing each of the products included

Onto the products:

yarok FEED YOUR ENDS Leave-In Conditioner (travel size) 2oz – $9.90

Mullein & Sparrow Pink Himalayan Bath Salts (travel size) Value? $5??

Juice Beauty® GREEN APPLE™ Age Defy Hand Cream Full Size! – $12

I’ve never used any of these products before so I’m really excited to try them! I’m still in search of my holy grail leave in conditioner so I’m hoping I get great results with Yarok’s! I love how it’s pure, all natural, and free of gluten, parabens, alcohol, and sulfates PLUS it’s cruelty free! It’s supposed to protect hair from heat damage so that’s perfect for me since I like flat ironing my hair often.

I don’t use bath salts so I’m still debating on trying these or passing them along to someone. They are organic and I’m not too fond of the scent but who knows, I might give them a try!

I feel like I’ve been seeing Juice Beauty products everywhere just like how Purlisse was everywhere a few months ago! I haven’t used their products before so I’m excited to try this hand cream – if you follow me on Instagram you probably noticed I can’t get enough of hand creams! This one is full of vitamin C and organic fruit acids and it works to fade dark spots and brighten dull skin!

KOR Water AURA Water Bottle – $9.95

Bombas Ankle Socks – $9

Yay for water bottles! It’s made with BPA-free plastic and it’s not too small and not too big, it holds 16.9 ounces! I was hoping for a different color but this one’s not too bad. I’m excited to try these socks to see what the fuss is about, I like the thickness of them and I love how they donate a pair for every pair of socks purchased! I’ll definitely be purchasing more of these if I like the fit.

FIG+YARROW Healing Salve (travel size) – .5 oz $5.90
ILIA Lip Gloss – The Butterfly And I – Full Size! $24
Vapour Organic Beauty Aura Multi-Use Blush – Courtesan
(travel size) – 4.25g $22.50

I’m excited to try all of these items! The healing salve is made of organic herbs and botanical essences and is supposed to be very soothing.

The lip gloss is in such a pretty shade and it’s made from coconut oil and shea butter, which is super neat! Shades like these either look super nice or completely hideous on me so we’ll have to see if I like it or if it’ll be put up for trade.

The Vapour blush is made from organic and mineral ingredients and is said to be easy to blend – which i love because I always have terrible luck with using creamy blushes. I love the shade and I can’t wait to start playing around with it!

The total of the box with my estimates came to be $98.25 and Birchbox says the value is $107 so I went wrong somewhere – probably the bath salts!

I think this Fresh Start Box has an incredible value for the price and I’ll be using almost everything included! You can purchase this limited edition box here!

What do you think of the Fresh Start BoxLeave your thoughts in the comments below and let me know if you plan on purchasing or have purchased this box!

The Face Shop Clear Hair Mist in Peach Floral – $7.00

Mizon Olive Cocoa Butter Foot Cream – $14.00

Mizon Hyaluronic Ulta Suboon Cream – $15.00

I used the hair mist for about 3 days now and love it! It smells great and it’s not too strong of a scent! It definitely makes my hair shinier and silkier, I always spray some right before I’m about to go out!

I haven’t opened the foot cream yet but I’m super excited to try it, it’s definitely going to come in use in this cold weather! This cream protects coarse feet from dead skin.

The Mizon Hyaluronic cream is the first thing I dug into when I got this bag! I haven’t been liking the moisturizer I’m currently using and I’ve been dying to find a better one. This moisturizer is PERFECT for my dry skin! I have some dry patches on my nose and right side of my face that are difficult to deal with and I haven’t had a problem with them since I’ve been using this cream! It’s super moisturizing and not heavy or greasy at all! It almost feels like water!

image

Tonymoly Delight Tony Tint in 01 – $7.00

Milani Sunset Duo Blush and Bronzer in Sunset Beach – $11.00

Tonymoly is a brand that’s completely new to me so I’m excited to try one of their products! The lip tint is a pinkish/red color and smells like candy. I think it’ll be a fun shade to use!

I love love love Milani so I was super happy to see a blush/bronzer duo in this bag! I haven’t used any of their duos before and I have been looking for a new bronzer so very I’m excited to play with this one!

image

Cheetah Sleeping Mask – $7.50

It’s Skin Neck Focus Patch – $6.00

BRTC V Shaping Mask – BONUS ITEM! $7.00

The sleeping mask is so cute, I’m so glad I got this because I’ve been thinking of buying one! I’m also glad there were two sheet masks included in this bag, and they’re brands I haven’t used before – I’ll  be able to experiment and see if they’re worth purchasing!

I’ve never used a neck focus patch before so I’m intrigued to use it – it’s supposed to improve firmness and skin texture! The V Shaper is new to me as well, it’s supposed to moisturize, firm, and contour your face and neck!

January’s BB Bag had a total value of $67 and that’s without the bonus item!

I am in love with everything that was in this bag and will be using all of the products! I think it’s a great deal and an amazing mix of beauty, skincare, and lifestyle products and I’m looking forward to seeing what February’s BB Bag will have!

Beauteque Head to Toe Milk Bag Review

Beauteque is by far my favorite website to shop at when it comes to Asian beauty products! They started off 2015 by releasing their limited edition Beauteque Head to Toe Milk Bag and they kindly sent me one for review purposes. Here’s a description of the bag:

Got Milk? Well, we do! Beauteque will help you stay warm, radiant, and beautiful this Winter with milk products. One of the best kept secrets has been to use milk to keep your skin nourished and moisturized, especially during the colder months, so we wanted to share our best and favorite milk products with you. They say that milk does a body good, but it also does your skincare and beauty regimen good! We hope you enjoy trying some of the best kept milk secrets in the industry.”

This limited edition bag is only available until January 31st, 2015 and it comes with 7 FULL SIZED products! Each bag is customizable for the products that have more than one option and it costs $25.00 + shipping.

Each bag comes with a card detailing the products in each bag:

Let’s dig into the products!

Milk Wash Off Sponge – $10.00

Clinic Milk Mask – $3.00

I was really intrigued by the milk mask because I have sensitive skin and I have been looking for a facial cleansing sponge that exfoliates more gently than the current sponge I use! The milk properties in the sponge are supposed to act like an exfoliator and remove dead cells so I think that’s pretty cool and completely new to me!

If you know me you know I’m completely hooked onto sheet masks! They’re perfect for my lazy days and I was excited to see this one in my bag since I haven’t used Clinic Milk before! This mask is supposed to leave skin super smooth and the milk and protein extract ingredients leave the skin completely moisturized.

Skinfood Milk Creamy Nail Polish: $8.50

Skinfood Shea Butter Milk Lip Care Balm: $7.00

I feel like I’ve tried something from Skinfood before but I’m not totally sure – but I’m super excited for this nail polish! The color is gorgeous and the packaging is too cute! I like that this balm has shea butter and the description says it’s perfect for the cold weather so I’ll probably be opening it up sooner than later!

Secret Key Milk Brightening Toner: $19.00

Skinfood Cleansing Wildberry Milk Cleansing Foam – $12.00

Secret Key Milk Hand Cream – $6.50

I was really really happy to see the toner in this bag because I’m almost out of the one I have now and I’ve been wanting to try a new brand. This toner is effective for skin brightening and the description on the card goes on to say that its abundance of vitamins, minerals, and ions are helpful for enhancing the skins immunity. The vitamins and minerals of the milk will supply your skin with nutrients and moisture.

I’ve never tried a cleansing foam with berry extract so I’m excited to try it out! These moisturizing cleansing foams combine smooth milk extracts and the anti-oxidant agents that will wash away dirt and oil, leaving the skin soft and radiant.

I can never have too many hand creams and I love how this cream is lightweight and doesn’t leave a greasy feeling. This cream is made from donkey milk – which is totally new to me – and it moisturizes the skin and protects it by maintaining the balance between moisture and oil in the skin.

This bag has a total value of $66.00 and only costs $25.00 + shipping! I think it’s a great value and a fun and inexpensive way to try great products. It’s perfect for the winter and I know I’ll be using every single item that was included in this bag!

If you’re interested in purchasing the Beauteque Head to Toe Milk Bag, you can do so here! Remember, these bags are only available until the end of January so grab yours before they’re gone!

I received this item in exchange for my honest, unbiased opinion. All opinions expressed are my own and I would not promote an item if I did not think it would spark interest to my readers.

December 2014 Birchbox Review

I got myBirchbox super early this month but didn’t get a chance to write up a review since I had finals – which are done now so YAY! First semester of grad school is officially over!

These points add up since you can get $5 or more worth of store credit each month!

image

This month’s theme is “Decked Out” and every review I read so far gave such great feedback on the box and I am totally on the same page as them! The box this month is GORGEOUS! It’s probably my favorite box of theirs ever!

image

If you read my past Birchbox reviews you probably know they totally rocked and set my expectations super high, so I wasn’t surprised when I was a little let down with this month’s products.

Each box comes with a detailed card listing the products included:

image

The first thing I saw in my box this month was a $10 gift card to Gap! I don’t shop there so I’ll be passing it along to someone else but I think it’s neat that every subscriber got it!

image

So let’s get onto the products:

image

Davines Replumping Superactive – 1.69 oz $19.75

Davines Replumping Duo Shampoo & Conditioner – Bonus Items!

Holy moly! I took a double take when I realized I got half of the full sized replumping superactive! It’s pretty much worth the cost of two Birchbox’s! I wasn’t super excited for the product when I looked at my sneak peek online but I’ve seen so many great reviews in the past couple of weeks which got me hyped up for it! This product is supposed leave hair looking thick and shiny – I’m excited for the shiny part but my hair is already so thick, I’m hoping it doesn’t add too much volume! Birchbox sent everyone who got this product a sample duo of the shampoo and conditioner as well! I think that’s pretty neat since I could try the whole set now and get an idea of how awesome the duo might or might now be!

imageMirenesse iCurl Secret Weapon 24Hr Mascara – .14 oz – $1.42

English Laundry Signature for Her – 2mL $2.78

Manna Kadar Lip Locked Priming Gloss Stain in Lucky – .01 oz $0.20

SeaRX Microdermabrasion Face and Body Scrub ??

I could not find an amount for the scrub and looking through other reviews – it seemed like everyone had a difference price amount written – anywhere from $2-$5.

Anywho – the first item in this photo is the mascara and I feel like I say this often but I don’t use mascaras! No worries though, I’ll be adding this to my cousin’s stocking next week! And another perfume sample!? I don’t like the scent of this so it will probably go to the trash unless I find someone to send it to! I wish there was a way to opt out of perfume samples but sadly, I can’t.

The Manna Kadar was the sample choice I picked! I wanted to see why each gloss stain was $24 and honestly – I was not impressed. I tried it and the color wasn’t for me but I also didn’t like the feeling of it and it didn’t last too long on my lips. I definitely prefer Cynthia Rowley Lip Stains and they’re $4 cheaper! My cousin wants to try this so I’ll be giving her the rest of the sample – which is super tiny by the way! I’ve never seen a lippie sample so tiny before!

I was excited to see the scrub in my box because I was just telling one of my blogger friends about how I wanted to try a micro-dermabrasion scrub and viola – I got a sample of one in my Birchbox!

Overall – the value of this box is a little over $25, without the price of the scrub, so not bad! I’m not super impressed with the contents though – they’re not bad but this box isn’t my favorite considering my past 3 boxes were beyond amazing! I’m glad I’ll be able to give most of the items I don’t like to my cousin so they won’t go to waste!

I think what I’m most excited about is the actual box for this month – I can’t get over how pretty it is!

Also – I was able to rack up 70 points in the Birchbox store for reviewing all of the products – that’s $7 in store credit! It’s almost as if I paid $3 for this box so I that was another plus!

If you’d like to sign up for Birchbox, you can so here!

What are your thoughts on December’s Birchbox? Let me know in the comments below, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
