September 2014 Birchbox Review

Before I get started, I have to say that this month has got to be my favorite box ever! The box itself was gorgeous and the products chosen for me were beyond perfect!

Birchbox is a monthly beauty sampling subscription service that costs $10/month!

Birchbox is one of my favorite subscription services because I find myself actually using and loving everything (or almost everything) I receive! I’ve discovered many new brands from this sub!

Another reason I love Birchbox is their INCREDIBLE point system! For every item in your box you review, you receive 10 Birchbox points, which is equal to $1 in the Birchbox store. These points add up since you can get $5 or more worth of store credit each month!

Onto my box!

image

Each box comes with a card detailing which products Birchbox chose for you!

image

As usual, I peeked on the Birchbox app to see what I would be receiving. I tried so hard not to but I couldn’t help myself!

image

Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser – .2 oz – $1.65

I heard great things about this product so I’m crazy excited to try this Suki Cleanser! I’m always in search of exfoliators to try and this Suki cleanser is made up of all natural ingredients, including lemongrass and chamomile, which is perfect for me! It also smells really great!

Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream- .1 oz – $1.28

I feel like I’ve used this brand before but I can’t remember when or which product I used! The fact that Yu-Be has been Japan’s top selling skin cream since the 1950’s really caught my attention! Sometimes my skin gets super dry to the point that my moisturizers don’t help! I’m intrigued to see how this one works!

image

Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm in Honey Nectar – FULL SIZE! – $8.00

I heard great things about this Pixi Lip Balm and was hoping I’d get a color I would be able to use often and I did!! I’m so glad Birchbox sent me this lip balm in a nude color rather than something bright! I’ll be able to use this every day! In fact, I already began to use it and love how it feels! I’ll most likely be purchasing more of these with my Birchbox Points!

Curl Keeper Gel – 1 oz – $2.19

I love seeing hair products for curls in my Birchbox because I’m still looking for a product that works with my thick curly/wavy hair. I can’t wait to try this out and see how it works!

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Vacuum Cleaner – .25 oz – $11.25

Another product I’ve heard nothing but great things about! Again, I was super happy to see this product in my Birchbox! I’ve always wanted to try this product out and see how well it gets rid of my blackheads! I also think it’s pretty neat how the gel turns blue once it’s dry!

September’s Birchbox is my all time favorite! I can’t even begin to describe how much I love all the products I got! I paid $10 for this box and the value of the products was around $24! I’ll also be receiving $5 in store credit for reviewing all of the products!

If you’re interested in receiving a box full of amazing samples every month for a low price I highly recommend subscribing to Birchbox

You can sign up here and you can use coupon code BBKIWI100 to get 100 Birchbox which is equivalent to $10 to spend in the Birchbox store!

One Direction – “The Looks Collection” Review

//

So a couple of weeks ago Brandbacker gave me the opportunity to try out and review One Direction’s new makeup line! Although I’m not as huge as a fan of the boys as I was in the past, I was still crazy excited to try out the makeup!

“The Looks Collections” comprises three keepsake tins inspired by One Direction’s globe-conquering albums, “Up All Night, “Take Me Home” and the latest chart topper, ‘Midnight Memories.” Each tin comes complete with everything you need to show off your personality. Are you a rock n’ roll girl, a fun party girl or the girl next door? They have just the right collection for you, along with illustrations to help show you just how to get your perfect look. All your beauty essentials are housed in a LIMITED EDITION collectible keepsake tin with removable sleeve, complete with ONE DIRECTION doodle stencils to decorate your keepsake tin and make it uniquely your own!

I don’t think International release dates have been announced (correct me if I’m wrong) but “The Looks Collection” hit stores on August 25th! You can find these beauties at Macy’s, Dillards, and Beauty Brands and I believe they cost $28.99, which isn’t a bad price at all since you get so many great beauty products!

Before I received this set I had checked out the three different collections and hoped I was sent the Midnight Memories collection and I was super excited when I was sent this one!

image

Here’s a closer look at the inside of the tin! The inside cover shows different looks you can create!

image

Each collection also comes with an introductory card that shows what each collection looks like!

image

Here are some photos of the eyeshadow palette! I loved loved loved the colors! My favorites are “Don’t Forget Where You Belong” and “Midnight Memories”!

image

image

I swatched them all as well. I found that most colors pigmented and blended well but I needed to use more of “Don’t Forget Where You Belong” for the color to actually show up.

image

The kit also comes with stencils, black eye/body crayon, and mascara!

The body pencil is called “Better Than Words” and the mascara is called “Little Black Dress”.

image

image

I tried out these stencils and I wouldn’t use them on myself often but it would definitely be fun to use on my younger cousins!

The mascara is pretty nice, it doesn’t clump at all and it gives great volume to my lashes! I found it super easy to remove as well! I’ll definitely be using this often!

The Looks Collection also comes with a lipstick and lip gloss!

image

The lipstick is called “Best Song Ever” and the gloss is called “Through the Dark”.

image

I wasn’t sure how I was going to like these two colors but I became more comfortable after playing around with them! The lip gloss looked crazy bright when I swatched it but it wasn’t as bright when I put in on! I don’t think I could rock that red lipstick though! I, personally, prefer deep reds but I’ll still give this one another shot!

The last product in this box was a nail polish!

image

I LOVE the color! This polish is called “Right Now”.  I was really surprised with the quality, I’ve had it on for a few days and it still hasn’t chipped! I’m mentioning this because my other polishes from brands like OPI and ORLY usually chip within 2 days! This polish also dried really really fast! I applied 2 coats and my nails dried within 5 minutes!!!

Overall I’m pleased with this set! I was iffy about the eyeshadow and lip products but I love them more and more each time I use them!

I think this set is a great value for $29 since you get so many different products!

My favorite product is the nail varnish for sure! I’m also liking the lip gloss more and more after each time I use it!

Be sure to share your thoughts in my ask box!  Will you purchase The Looks Collection? From the photos in my review, what product would you be most excited to try out?

I loved how they played with everyone’s names this month on the shipping label! I got “The Clever Priyanka Patel”

image

Each box comes with a card detailing which products were chosen for you and how to use them!

image

I tried so hard not to peek online but I failed..again so I knew what I was receiving!

image

image

LAQA & Co. Sheer Lip Lube Pencil – Bees Knees (Coral) FULL SIZE!! $18

I had no idea this would come in a full size! I love the color but it’s too light for my liking. I’ll most likely give this product away!

I noticed their set of 5 Sheer Lip Lube Pencils are $40 on the Birchbox site and I’m super tempted to buy it for the other colors!

image

Whish Shave Crave Shaving Cream – Acai Grapefruit – 22 mL $2.93

I’ve never used shaving cream before, I usually wax myself but on lazy days when I do shave, I use conditioner. I’ll definitely put this to use because I’ve been super lazy with waxing lately lol!

image

Catherine Malandrino Style de Paris Fragrance

This sample doesn’t say how much fragrance is in the container so I can’t estimate a price. However, I am not a fan of this scent. I’ll definitely not be using it but I’m sure my mom will find it to her liking!

image

K6 Skincare Clean Antioxidant Facial Cleanser – .25 FL OZ $1.50

This cleanser is vegan and paraban-free! It’s supposed to nourish your skin while cleaning it and it’s great for all skin types! I’m definitely excited to try this product out!

image

image

Noir Cosmetics Long – Wear Eyeliner – Full Size!! (I think lol!) $15

This was the product I was super duper excited for! I am a huge eyeliner junkie! I love love love trying new eyeliners! I’m already a huge fan of this one! It’s so smooth and super dark! I’m definitely putting it to the test on my first day of school, which is tomorrow!

This month’s Birchbox was great! I’m in love with 3/5 items I received and the other two will be given away. I paid $10 for this Birchbox and received around $37 worth of products and once I review all 5 items on the Birchbox website, I’ll receive $5 store credit!

August Lip Monthly Review

This is my first Lip Monthly subscription! Lip Monthly is a monthly subscription service that costs $10/month. Each month, Lip Monthly sends you a box, or in this month’s case, a bag of 4-5 lip products, and they include a “Monthly Mix Up”item as well!

I noticed Lip Monthly sent out their products in boxes in the past few months but this month everyone received a cute blue bag and I really love the change!

Each bag comes with a little card that lists out all the products and their retail price!

image

This month’s card also tells us that Lip Monthly received positive feedback regarding the City Color Cosmetics products from last month so they included more of the same brand in the August bag. I’ve never tried anything from City Color Cosmetics before so I didn’t really mind, and I was glad to hear that their company is cruelty free!

Let’s take a look at all the products I received in this bag!

image

City Color Cosmetics – Be Matte Lipstick in Phoebe – $3.99

image

I LOVE this color and texture! It’s creamy and pigments well! I’m really excited to try this color out and I’m sure I will be using this often!

image

City Color Cosmetics – Lip Balm in Ultra Pink – $2.99

image

I’m not a huge fan of colored lip balms but this color is so pretty, I’ll definitely be using it!

image

City Color Cosmetics – Magic Balm – $3.99

image

The packaging is super cute, I’m looking forward to trying it! The only issue I have is that I can’t find this product on their website! I don’t know if I didn’t look hard enough or if this product is discontinued. If anyone knows more about this Magic Balm please let me know!

image

Jesse’s Girl Cosmetics – Lip Gloss in Gypsy? – $4.99

image

I’ve never used anything by Jesse’s Girl and I really like the color of this gloss so I’m definitely looking forward to trying it! However, I’m really confused because my card says the color is called Lip Lock, yet the label on my gloss says Gypsy? I looked on their website and there’s no record of any Gypsy color and Lip Lock is much lighter than the gloss I have.

image

Monthly Mix Up – Pixi by Petra – Lid Last Shadow Pen in Glided Mink – $18

image

I’ve never used Pixi products either so I was glad Lip Monthly sent out this product! I love love love eyeshadows and I love this color! I already know I’ll be reaching out for it often!

Overall I am super duper happy with this bag! Everything I received is valued at around $34 and I think it’s a great deal when this bag only cost $10! Or $7 if you used the coupon code!

I also love that everything this month was FULL SIZED! I know I will be using everything from this bag!

If you’re interested in subscribing to Lip Monthlyjust click here! Also, be sure to use coupon code, “SUMMERLIPS” and your first bag will only cost $6.99!

I received this item in exchange for my honest, unbiased opinion. All opinions expressed are my own and I would not promote an item if I did not think it would spark interest to my readers.

July 2014 Beauty Box 5 Review

Hello lovelies! I received my first Beauty Box 5 a few days ago and wanted to share my experience with you all!

Beauty Box 5 is a monthly beauty subscription service that delivers 5 deluxe samples and full-sized products directly to your mailbox! Each box is $12/month, but they also have quarterly and yearly subscriptions! Quarterly subscriptions are $30 and a yearly subscription is $99!

I was super curious to try this box after reading all the mixed reviews and once I saw there was a coupon code for a free box I couldn’t stop myself from ordering it!

Each box comes with a card that lists the theme of the month and all the products featured in your box! This month’s theme was defining moments!

Products I received:

Miss Jessie’s Multi Cultural Curls: 1 oz | $1.88

HASK Argan Oil Intensive Deep Conditioning Hair Treatment: 1.75 oz | $2.49

I received the Miss Jessie’s Multi Cultural Curls in a previous Birchbox and liked the product! I’ll definitely be putting this to use soon! I haven’t tried this Argan Oil Treatment before but it seems interesting! I’m always looking for new hair treatments since my hair is super thick, wavy + curly, frizzy, and hard to maintain so I was pleased to see these two products in my Beauty Box 5!

Anna’s Naturals Glowing Mama Walnut Face & Body Scrub: My jar doesn’t say how many ounces it has but the full size would be 4 oz | $10.99

Revlon Bold Lacquer Mascara: $7.99

Body Drench Candy Licious Lips: $3.99

The body scrub has a great scent and I love how it’s all natural and vegan! I’ve seen this mascara being featured in multiple beauty boxes this month and have read great reviews so I can’t wait to start using it! I received the lip balm in Grape Lollipop and can’t wait to try it!

This month’s Beauty Box 5 definitely had a nice value and I will be using everything I received! This box was completely free because of the coupon code I had used! I’m tempted to keep my subscription but I will have to think about it before making a final decision.

July Beauteque BB Bag Review

Beauteque is a new beauty subscription service that recently launched. They hosted a giveaway prior to their launch and chose one winner from three social media platforms, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook! I won their Instagram giveaway!

Each winner was sent a beauty bag full of goodies! Each Beauteque Beauty Bag is $22 plus shipping. Beauteque features many international brands and each subscriber is given the ability to choose which particular product they want in their bags. For example, Beauteque lists out numerous eyeshadow pigments you can choose from plus a list of different masks each subscriber can choose from!

Each BB Bag comes with an introduction card and this month’s bag came with cute passport book that listed each product and what they do and how to use them. What I really liked was that each list showed all the different products we were able to choose from rather than limiting it to only the products we received in our BB Bag.

Here is what I received in my BB Bag!

Beauteque Mineral Eye Shimmer in Caribbean Coral $10.99

image

image

My Beauty Diary Face Masks in Strawberry Yogurt and Arbutin: $1.99 each

We were allowed to choose two face masks in this bag! I haven’t used the Arbutin yet but my mom tried out the Strawberry Yogurt and she loved it! I’m definitely putting in an order for a whole box soon!

image

Beauteque Foundation Brush: $10.50

I love how this brush has a bamboo handle and the bristles are really soft!

image

Holika Holika Dessert Time Pudding Pack in Pineapple: $0.75

I’ve never tried a pudding mask before so I’m definitely curious to see how it works!

image

A’Pieu Shea Hand Lotion in Rose: $8.99

I haven’t used this lotion yet since I have tons of opened bottles I need to finish first but this one smells great!

image

Etude House Drawing Eyebrow Pencil: $7.00

I don’t use brow pencils so I gave it to my mom!

image

This Essie Nail Polish was a bonus item for the first few people who signed up for the BB Bag when it first launched! I wasn’t expecting to get one but was super happy seeing it in my bag! I love nail polish and I love this color!
image

The value of this bag was around $41 and the price is $22 plus shipping! I definitely think it’s a great deal, especially if you like trying new brands and a mix of skincare plus makeup!

I recommend checking out Beauteque’s website! They have amazing deals going on right now with their 21 Days of Summer!
