ABH Nicole Guerriero Glow Kit Swatches + Mini Review

Let’s just start by saying I bought this palette three days ago and am ABSOLUTELY OBSESSED.

As someone who owns a hundred other highlighters, not including the 3 ABH glow kits, I convinced myself I did not need it.
Well I didn’t do a great job convincing myself since I grabbed one instantly after swatching it in Sephora the other day.
Let’s talk about this palette before diving into the swatches.
Anastasia Beverly Hills collaborated with youtuber, Nicole Guerriero to create this palette. It features six metallic powder highlighters to provide a stunning, luminous glow. You can use a damp beauty sponge or brush to get an even more intense highlight!
The cost: $40 and you can grab this palette on the ABH website (free shipping on orders $25+) or Sephora (free shipping on orders $50+ if you order online – unless you have Sephora Flash – if you don’t I highly recommend getting it – $10/year for free shipping on all orders!)
Formula: The formula is really fine, smooth and blendable. These don’t look chalky or powdery at all and the shimmers don’t look chunky on the skin either.

Here’s a better description of the 6 shades:

  • Kitty Kat: pink with a platinum shimmer
  • Daydream: coral with white gold shimmer
  • Forever Young: pink pearl with silver shimmer
  • Forever Lit: platinum with lavender shimmer
  • Glo Getter: champagne with rose shimmer
  • 143: rose gold with bronze shimmer
What I really love about this palette is how wonderful the shades will look on so many different skin tones! I feel like I can rock all six shades with my medium/warm/olive skin tone. Plus, the possibilities are endless since you can create so many fun shades by mixing them up!
I’ve been mixing Glo Getter and Daydream the past three days and LOVE it the combination!
I highly recommend this palette to anyone who’s looking for fun, new shades to try out. Or if you want to add a new palette to your collection – THIS. IS. IT.
Grab yours at a local Sephora or purchase it online here!

Sephora VIB Rouge Flash Your Card Event Haul | 2017

I love a good Sephora haul so when I received an email about the latest VIB Rouge event, I made a quick trip to my local Sephora – seriously..it was quick, I was in and out within 10 minutes!

This event is specifically for VIB Rouge members and is running from March 10-11 in all Sephora stores.
Basically, you get a free Selfie Light with a $35 purchase. I love free things and don’t anticipate being VIB Rouge every year so I definitely wanted to take advantage of everything possible!
I decided to stick to the theme of this event and hauled a bunch of highlighters I wanted to try!

medianet_width = “180”;
medianet_height = “150”;
medianet_crid = “282486747”;
medianet_versionId = “111299”;
(function() {
var isSSL = ‘https:’ == document.location.protocol;
var mnSrc = (isSSL ? ‘https:’ : ‘http:’) + ‘//contextual.media.net/nmedianet.js?cid=8CU5VB18R’ + (isSSL ? ‘&https=1’ : ”);
document.write(”);
})();

Here’s what the Selfie Light looks like if you’re interested – it has 3 different light adjustments!

First highlighter I picked out is Stila’s Heaven’s Hue Highlighter in Bronze. I LOVE the texture of this highlight and the shade is beyond stunning. I really wanted Kitten also but unfortunately they were sold out.

The next ones I picked up are the Too Faced Love Light Prismatic Highlighters. I had originally thought I’d only buy one but after swatching them in store, I had to have all three! The formula is silky smooth and the pigmentation is just wonderful! Btw, how cute is the packaging?!

The last thing I bought is the ABH Nicole Guerriero Glow Kit. I was iffy on this because the last glow kit I bought (The Ultimate Glow Kit) was not as great as the other ones I have. Thankfully though, the formula of these highlighters are just as amazing as the ones in the original glow kits!
Well there ya have it! Have any of you hauled any fun items lately? Let me know if you have any recommendations, highlighters and anything else!

Too Faced White Chocolate Chip Palette First Impressions + Swatches

Too Faced launched two palettes in time for the holidays recently – their Matte Chocolate Chip Palette and White Chocolate Chip Palette. I picked up the latter when it was available to VIB Rouge members on the Sephora site. I thought I’d do a quick first impressions and show some swatches before they restocked their website since I’ve seen many people show interest in wanting to get their hands on this palette!

This palette is available on Sephora’s website for $26 and comes with 11 cocoa powder infused pastel, creamy nudes, and a pop of black shades. It’s currently sold out but they should be restocking soon.
The first thing I noticed about this palette is that it’s small and sleek.

Like REALLY small. It’s smaller than my mom’s iphone 5.
And the pan sizes are insanely small. The big pan holds 1.5 grams of product while the 10 smaller pans have 0.5 grams each making the total amount of product in this palette 6.5 grams. This is about a third of the amount included in the original Chocolate Bar which has 18.9 grams of product for $49.
Simply comparing the amount of product in each palette doesn’t make the White Chocolate Chip Palette worth it to me. You get less than half the amount of product while the cost is more than half of what the original Chocolate Bar. At first I tried to justify the small pan sizes with the fact that I hardly ever go hit pan on my shadows but my view changed once I swatched these shadows. I used very little product in my swatches and feel like I already used up a ton of product. Hopefully that isn’t the case but seeing the dents I made with one use doesn’t keep my hopes up.
Shades top to bottom: Glaze, Ambriosa, Exotica, Pearl Candy, Raspberry Rose, Indulge, Guilt Free, Cake Batter, Cookie Dough, Sugared Raisin, Black Sugar
I do like the color range of the shadows, however, I feel like there are more nudes than pastels. Before I played around with the shadows, I expected the shimmers to outperform the mattes but it was the opposite. I had to layer up the shimmer shades to build up the swatches. Most of the mattes are good in my opinion, but not impressive. They’re extremely powdery and a few had to be built up.
Final Thoughts
Pros: Cute packaging, the cocoa scent is great, and color range is something I’d use
Cons: Amount of product provided, formula isn’t as great as I hoped it to be, especially the shimmery shades.
If you’re a beauty enthusiast who wants this in your collection, then I’d say why not – but don’t have your hopes up. If you’re someone who’s on the market for a new palette, I’d say skip this and splurge on a Lorac Palette, especially if their holiday ones are still available ($18 only!) or even an Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette
If you’re willing to try something new, I’d say go with an indie brand such as Touch of Glam BeautyDevinah Cosmetics, or JD Glow Cosmetics!
What are your thoughts on the White Chocolate Chip Palette? Will you be purchasing it if you have not already?

ColourPop Blues Baby Ultra Matte Lip Collection Review and Swatches

If you’re looking for a bundle of affordable, stunning, holiday friendly matte liquid lipsticks then you’ve come to the right place! ColourPop’s Blues Baby Collection includes 5 gorgeous Ultra Matte Lips and is currently on sale for $20 (regular price is $25)!

ColourPop’s Blues Baby includes 5 full size Ultra Matte Lips in the shades:
  • Mink – Deep greyed out mauve brown
  • Play Date – Rich blackened magenta
  • Notion – Rich red violet
  • Avenue – Deep yellow red
  • Smitten – Dark blackened violet red

The set costs $25 but like I said above, their Black Friday sale is still up (ends 12AM PST 11/26) and running so you can get this bundle for 20% off – no code needed!

Shipping is free on orders $30+ within the USA and $50+ internationally.
I knew I had to have this collection because every shade is suitable for my skin tone! Plus, I love the holiday packaging – the frosted tube and black cap is a nice change!
ColourPop is definitely one of the more affordable brands out there and I think they outperform many drugstore brands and even a few high end companies. Their Lippie Stix in the Matte X formula are my favorite products by them but their Ultra Matte Lips are definitely my second favorite! I really wish their Ultra Matte Lip formula was consistent though, some of them are great and some just plain suck. I’ll talk more about the formula of these 5 below!
I adore all 5 shades! I already own Avenue and Notion but the packaging really got me – yes I know I have issues.
In my defense, Avenue’s formula did not work for me when I bought my first one ages ago – and since it was one of the first Ultra Mattes ColourPop had released, I was curious to see if they changed it over time. Unfortunately, it seems like they did not – the formula of the new one is still super patchy and doesn’t dry down to that concrete feeling ultra matte finish I’d like it to.
Mink and Play Date were the ones that dried down the quickest, which was interesting since I had swatched those two the last. Their formulas seem similar to Notion’s which I do like! I’m one of those gals that like the super drying matte liquid lipsticks and Smitten seems to dry down like that as well. However, I noticed Smitten had one of those formulas that crumbled easily when on the lips – something similar to what I’ve experienced with Love Bug.
Despite my critiques on some of the formulas, I still think they’re MUCH better than nearly all the matte liquid lipsticks I’ve tried that are in the same price range, even more pricer ones on the market. Plus, my experiences and preferences be different from yours. I know many people who have no issues with Avenue!
All in all, I absolutely LOVE Blues Baby and think it would be a great addition to your makeup collection + it would make a great stocking stuffer!

Sephora VIB Sale Top 7 Recommendations

It’s that lovely time of the year where Sephora offers 20% off to VIB and VIB Rouge members! If I’m not mistaken, Beauty Insiders should be getting a coupon code early December – don’t quote me on that though!

Anyways, I’m here to give you my picks and recommendations based on products I personally think are great to own along with gift ideas!

VIB Rouge members can use coupon code 20ROUGE online to receive 20% off all purchases between Nov 4-7

VIB members can use coupon code 20VIB to receive 20% off all purchases between Nov 11-14
Two other things I want to mention before listing my picks:
  • If you’re shopping online for this sale, be sure to use Ebates to receive cash back! At the time of posting this, Sephora is offering 4% cash back all purchases! I’ve been using Ebates for years now and absolutely love it!
  • If you haven’t already, sign up for Sephora Flash! It’s $10/year and so worth it! Free shipping on ALL orders, NO minimum! Rouge members receive this for free but if you’re not Rouge, I highly highly recommend it! I had Flash before I became Rouge and it came in handy every time a new product launched that was under $50!

Now let’s get on with the products!
First of all, if there’s anything you’re interested in the sale section – now is your time to splurge since 20% off applies to everything there as well! There’s TONS of fun products such as the Disney Minnie by Sephora CollectionUrban Decay Electric PaletteTONS of makeup brushes, and more!
Sephora has a great number of products but here are my 10 recommendations in no particular order
  • Your holy grail foundation – in my case that would be the Urban Decay Naked Skin One and Done Hybrid Complexion Perfector – I always stock up on foundation/concealer and anything else I tend to use daily during these sales – it saves a few bucks in the long run and I don’t have to worry about ever running out!
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit in Ultimate Glow – ABH glow kits are AMAZING! I have 2 and will definitely be adding this one to my collection! The coupon code will knock off $9 to make the discounted price $36 – that’s $6 a shade!
  • Pretty much anything from the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Collection – I would definitely recommend a Champagne Split or two if you don’t have any Becca products. Heck I’d get them even if you have the face palette – I prefer the formula of the highlights in the splits than the face palette. The slimlights are also super fun to use for a more natural highlight!
  • Tarte’s Amazonian Clay Blush Color Wheel – this is probably one of the only holiday collections I was impressed with. Considering most holiday products, including this one, aren’t made in the states – quality is usually lacking. This wasn’t the case with the Tarte Color Wheel! i was really impressed that the formula was just as great as the blush singles I own! And how can you beat 10 shades for $44? Buy it during the sale and price will drop to $35.20. This would also make a fab gift!
  • Kat Von D Everlasting Obsession Liquid Lipstick Collectors Edition – I think the coupon should work on this and make the price drop to $198! If I had the funds I would totally snag this – especially since there are some new shades in this collection! If you’re looking for an alternative, try the KVD Everlasting Mini Liquid Lipstick Collection! The price should drop to $39.20 and it’s a great way to try more shades from KVD + it would make a great gift to a lippie lover!
  • KVD Holiday Collection Studded Kiss Lipsticks – These are definitely on my list! All three shades are gorgeous and I love the limited edition packaging! They’ll come down to $16.80 a piece with the coupon!
  • Sephora Favorites Sets – These would be great for gifts or for yourself if you’re into trying a multitude of products! A couple that caught my eye are the Glow For It + Give Me Some Lip Kits
There are so many other products that would be fun to try and gift but these are just a few of my picks based on my likes and style! One thing I didn’t specifically mention was eyeshadow – there are a multitude of great ones out there that I couldn’t decide on a single one to recommend. If you are looking to add a new palette to your collection, I would suggest the ABH Modern Renaissance, any Urban Decay Naked Palette – my favorite is the 3rd, or any palette from KVD!
This would also be a great time to stock up on other essentials such as hair products and skincare! And eyeliners..beauty blenders..contour refills..mascara..and basically everything. Bye bye money!
What will you be picking up during this sale? I’d love to read about your recommendations!
