eDivv: The Perfect Place for Beauty and Fashion Swaps

Photo from eDivv’s website

Happy Friday everyone! Today I wanted to share a community I really enjoy being a part of – eDivv

eDivv is a place where members can trade, aka “divvy”, unwanted beauty and fashion related items – these can be samples from subscription boxes that didn’t spark your interest or products you bought but weren’t fond of! I was able to divvy numerous items for products I’ve always wanted to try such as IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye Concealer, Klorane Makeup Remover, Too Faced La Creme, and numerous other things – I’ll leave photos below!
Members can join eDivv and create a shop for free, where they can add items they would like to divvy! You can then browse through various categories or shops and initiate a trade when you find something(s) you’d love to have, then either make an offer or tell the shop owner you’re interested and they will have the chance to go through your shop and make a counteroffer! Once a trade is confirmed, you will be asked to buy a shipping label through eDivv or purchase your own and submit a tracking number.
Easy enough right?
FREE shipping labels can be earned after every 7th divvy and you can also get a free label with the code “Rme12l5S7iQ “!
I know a few readers wanted more info about eDivv so I was really happy and appreciative when cofounder of eDivv, Casey Casterline, took some time to answer a few questions, so let’s jump right into them!

What is eDivv?

eDivv is a marketplace for women who have extra beauty products and fashion accessories, and who are passionate about the beauty industry to buy, sell, and swap their extra products.  The ability to buy/sell is a feature we are developing now and will be availlable in the next several weeks!

What inspired you to create a community like eDivv?

I started getting Birchbox in 2011 and loved it!  I had always loved makeup, but subscribing to beauty subscription boxes really gave me a chance to explore and experiment with new products and colors.  After awhile, I noticed that some experiments weren’t for me (green nail polish anyone?) and things kept piling up. I felt bad about throwing these things away and tried to find an alternative solution.  I went online and noticed that women were already trading on blogs and forums but there was no community to bring all of these smaller communities together, and is why I built eDivv.

I imagine there may be some bad apples in the community who do not fulfill their end of a Divvy or are dishonest when listing products, how do you deal with such members?

In every group of people, there are bound to be a few bad apples 🙂 We handle these situations in a number of ways:
1. The rating system.  After every divvy, you have the ability to rate your divvy partner 1-4 stars and leave a written review.  We want these reviews to be honest so we also give you the ability to leave it anonymously.
2. Blocking. If there is ever a situation were we find someone is being dishonest or don’t fulfill their end of the divvy, we permanently block them from eDivv.  We have a few security features in place to make sure they are unable to create a new accounts or trade on eDivv ever again. This is something we take VERY seriously.
3. Tracking. We make it mandatory that each divvy partner enters tracking information on eDivv for their divvy partner.  They can either purchase the shipping label directly from eDivv and the tracking will be automatically sent, or they can purchase shipping elsewhere and manually import the tracking, which will then be sent to their divvy partner.
4. “Report this Item.” Users on eDivv can help the eDivv team by clicking the “Report this Item” on any listing they see that has incorrect information or is inappropriate. The eDivv team will take a look at the listing and if it goes against our community guidelines, we will remove it.

I have a few readers and friends who think eDivv is fantastic but are doubtful with the thought of Divvying with strangers, is there any advice you would give?

The way to think about divvying with people you may not know is not that they are strangers, but your new girlfriend you haven’t met yet!  The women on eDivv are all passionate about the beauty industry and you may have a lot in common!  The ladies I have divvy’d with are so sweet.  When divvying, they are always writing cute notes and including extras in my packages!  This happens quite often, and it’s what makes eDivv such a great community.  If you are still hesitant, look for ladies who have had a number of good ratings and go from there!

There have been some changes and additions to eDivv such as purchasing shipping labels directly through the website and being able to see what products are currently considered for trade, are there any future updates members will see soon?

We are constantly making improvements thanks to the community’s feedback and are so excited for the things to come.  Soon, users will also have the ability to not only trade their products, but also to sell or buy items as well.  When you are creating a new listing, you can choose if you would like to sell the item and select a price.  This feature will be launched in the next several weeks so please keep a look out!
Well there you have it! I am super impressed with eDivv, here are a few of the divvy’s I received in the past couple months!
What do you think of eDivv? Let me know your thoughts in the comments as well as links to your shops if you’re a member!

Lazy Day + 5 Product Makeup Look

Hello beauties, I hope you’re all having a wonderful Thursday! One of my fellow bloggers, Dippy Writes, inspired me to write up this post. I highly recommend visiting her blog – she has great posts on beauty, fashion, and lifestyle!
I was originally going to have two separate posts, one for my lazy day routine and another for a makeup look with 5 products, but I realized they would be super similar so I decided to combine the two!

I just want to put out there that I’m no MUA or beauty expert, I just love playing around with makeup and I learn new things each and every day.
This lazy look is what I typically do for most days, I prefer to just cover up most of my acne scars and smear on some lipstick before running off to class or wherever else I may have to go.
As many of you may know, I am currently in school to get my Master’s in Health Administration. I stress out way too much for my own good which causes me to break out like crazy, mainly while classes are in session. That being said, I’m still trying to find a better way to cover up my acne/dark spots so any tips/tricks would be appreciated!
Onto the products I used:

Loreal Paris Voluminous Smoldering Eyeliner
This eyeliner is super creamy and I love using it on lazy days because it applies super quick compared to my other liners. However, I don’t use this if I’ll be out for more than a couple of hours because it can start to get runny. If I am out for long I’ll use Milani’s Retractable Pencil or Urban Decay’s Glide On. I do want to try Ardency Inn’s pencil soon though, I keep hearing that it’s a holy grail item!
I didn’t use a liner on my top lid today but if I do I usually will stick to the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner or Mac’s Fluidline.
Smashbox Photo FInish More Than Primer Blemish Control
This is the only primer I like at the moment but I do want to find something from the drugstore because like Kathleen Lights would say, “girl, das esspensive!”
Mac Studio Fix Fluid Foundation
This foundation works so well on me, it’s super easy to apply compared to other foundations I tried and it gives a nice medium coverage! It does tend to make me break out sometimes but I haven’t found anything that will give me the same type of coverage. Maybelline Fit Me and UD’s Naked Skin are on my list though!
Buxom Full On Lipstick in Acapulco
This was the first lipstick I ever bought so it does have a special place in my heart!
Amazing Cosmetics Amazing Concealer
I just got this to review a couple days ago and so far I really like it! This has a thicker consistency compared to the Mac Concealer I’ve been using.
So those are the 5 products I used for this look! I do switch up lippies, eyeliner, and add in eyeshadows but this is what I basically do for days I’m feeling lazy – which is about 80% of the time!

LuxePineapple Ciate Mystery Boxes of Joy

When LuxePineapple mentioned they were going to sell Ciate Paint Pots and Minis I knew I had to get my hands on them.
For those who don’t know, LuxePineapple is a website that sells beauty products at a discounted price and they release Boxes of Joy and Mystery Boxes a few times each month and they also have the option to build your own Box of Joy at times! I’m crazy addicted to their un-subscription boxes, not only because of their great deals, but also because of their kindness, positivity, and fantastic customer service!
The Ciate Boxes of Joy were released earlier this month and I was bummed at first since they were set to release while I had class. From what I’ve seen, most Boxes of Joy sell out super quick but I was able to snag 2 of the 5 different boxes that were being sold!
There were options for curated boxes and mystery boxes – I opted 2 mystery boxes! I thought the smaller boxes they came in were super cute!

Top: Ciate Paint Pots Box of Joy #4 |MYSTERY 3 Paint Pots Plus 1 Mini – $18.00 (Retail Value – $45.50)
Colors (left to right) – Knickerbockerglory, Kiss Chase, Night on the Tiles, Razzmatazz
Bottom: Ciate Paint Pots Box of Joy #5 MYSTERY 1 Full Size Plus 4 Minis – $16.00 (Retail Value – $47.00)
Colors (left to right) – Boudior, Double Bubblegum, Razzmatazz, Risky Business, Pool Party
LuxePineapple did not disappoint! I was worried I would get colors I wouldn’t like but I’m love with all the colors! I think a lot of these will be perfect for the spring and summer, especially the pinks! Although I got a repeat of Razzmatazz, I don’t mind since it’s a super pretty glittery gold and I don’t have any polishes like it!
Happy Tuesday Beauties!

March 2015 Birchbox Review

I say this every month but this month’s box is G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S!
Birchbox is totally on point with their box designs – if you’re a subscriber, don’t forget to keep all of your boxes, they’re planning something fun at the end of the year!
For those who don’t know, Birchbox is a monthly beauty sampling subscription service that costs $10/month!

Birchbox is one of my favorite subscription services because I find myself actually using and loving everything (or almost everything) I receive! I’ve discovered many new brands from this sub!
Another reason I love Birchbox is their INCREDIBLE point system! For every item in your box you review, you receive 10 Birchbox points, which is equal to $1 in theBirchbox store. Something new they started this year is if you share your Birchbox on FB or Twitter you will get an additional 10 points! These points add up super fast since you can get $6 or more worth of store credit each month!
Plus they have some fun opportunities for bloggers/youtubers each month, like the Birchbox Book Club! I was able to read all of Gillian Flynn’s novels – Gone Girl, Dark Places, and Sharp Objects a few months ago and  I actually just got an email a few minutes ago saying I will be receiving this month’s book, Better Than Before by Gretchen Rubin!
So now for this month’s box!

This month’s theme was creativity:
Get inspired with this month’s picks. Expressing yourself hasn’t been this fun since finger painting.

Being the dummy I am, I forgot to take a photo of the back of my information card and now I can’t seem to find it anywhere.

Harvey Prince Sincerely Perfume Sampler – .05 oz $1.65
Mirenesse Glossy Kiss in 04 Angel Kiss – .05 oz $11.00
Argh! The dreaded perfume samples! At least it’s Harvey Prince and a larger vial than I usually get! I’ll stick this in my purse for emergencies but there’s a 99% chance I won’t use it. It doesn’t smell horrible but it’s not a scent I would purchase for myself, I think it’s great for the Spring though! I’m horrible at describing scents but the inside of the card says it’s spicy, sweet, and calming.
I was super excited  to see this lip crayon, the shade is perfect for me ! I think it’s cool that they sent us a sample that’s half of a full size, this should last me for a long time!

Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle – 1 oz $2.75
Jelly Pong Pong Glow Getter Highlighter – FULL SIZE! $12.75
Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre (24 Hour Miracle Cream – .17 oz $1.87
I’ve always heard people raving about the Protect & Detangle so I’m excited to try it out! It’s supposed to lock in hair color, protect from heat damage, and add silkiness.
I don’t incorporate a highlighter into my makeup routine but I probably will now that I have this little guy! I honestly thought it was a nail polish at first glance haha!
I found the miracle cream interesting because it’s a moisturizer, primer, and makeup remover all in one! You apply it as a primer/moisturizer or use a little on a cotton ball to remove makeup!
This box has a value of a few cents over $30! I’ll for sure be using 4/5 of the products and I’m super excited about the lip crayon and protect & detangle! I’m also happy that they included a full sized product and decent sized samples for me this month!
March’s Birchbox is a win for me, if you’re interested in subscribing you can do so here!
If you’re already a subscriber, what did you think of March’s box, was it a hit or a miss?

March 2015 Beauteque BB Bag Review

Beauteque is one of my favorite websites to shop at when I’m looking for beauty and skincare products from the Eastern side of the world! They have an AMAZING variety of products – I’m particularly addicted to their sheet masks!

The BB Bag is their monthly subscription beauty bag. Each month Beauteque will send you a bag full of 7-8 full sized beauty, skincare, fashion, and lifestyle products but I’ve noticed they have a larger focus on skincare. Each bag also has a few products where subscribers can choose a specific scent, shade, etc. Options will be emailed in a survey format on the 15th of each month and if you don’t choose by the 20th, the Beauteque team will choose for you.
Here’s a breakdown of the different plans and prices:

  • $24 + shipping for 1 month.
  • $24 + shipping for 3 months
  • #23 + shipping for 6 months
  • $22 + shipping for 12 months
  • Shipping fees are 3.95 for the US, $5.95 for Canada, and $8.95 for Europe.
  • If you subscribe by the 5th of the month, you will receive the BB Bag of that month, if you subscribe after the 5th, you will receive the BB Bag for the next month.
  • Subscribers will be billed on the 15th of each month if they choose the month to month option and bags will begin to be shipped on the 15th as well

Before I get to the products I have to mention how great Beauteque’s bags are! I love the diverse styles, patterns, and material they use and I think they’re the perfect size for me! This month’s bag has a really pretty lip pattern on it and it’s definitely going into my school bag for sure!
This month’s theme is “Our Lips are Sealed” and the bag was curated to give the best of the best.
Each bag comes with a card detailing the products sent

Onto the products!

TonyMoly Mini Bling Pocket Hair Mask – $3.00
A’Pieu Take My Hands Nail Sheet Mask – $5.00
I never used a hair pack like this before so I’m really excited to try it out! It’s a leave in hair treatment for the ends of damaged hair. You’re supposed to leave it on for 15-30 minutes and remove it. It looks pretty simple to put on, you basically put the pack on your hand like a glove and wrap it on your hair like a pony tail – that probably sounds confusing but the picture instructions look simple!
The Nail Sheet Mask was customizable, I chose the Avocado while the other option was Berry. This nail pack nourishes nails and cuticles, you wear it for 15 minutes and massage the remaining essence into your skin!

The Face Shop Rice Toner – $14.00
Mizon Modeling Cup Pack – $8.00
The Face Shop Massage Cream in Cucumber – $12.00
I’m still using the toner I got from the Head to Toe Milk Bag but I opened this one anyways because it’s supposed to be super moisturizing. I’ve only been using this for 2 days but I love the way it feels and it does help moisturize my skin more than other toners have!
I’m glad Beauteque put the Mizon Pack in a ziploc bag because some of it did spill but I’m glad the cup itself didn’t break! For this product, you use a 1:3 proportion with water and powder and then mix it together. Leave it on your face for 15-20 minutes and then rinse!
Subscribers were able to choose between Cucumber and Mugwort massage creams. The cream has Vitamin B to refresh and revitalize skin, you massage it on your face for 3-5 minutes and then rinse it off with a cleanser – use 1-2 times a week. I used this about an hour ago and have to say I’m impressed! The cucumber scent was pretty strong when I opened it – I don’t like the smell of cucumber at all – but I’m happy to say the scent was minimal when I applied it to my face and massaged it in, it felt so creamy and moisturizing! My skin was left super refreshed and soft after washing it off!

Etude House Look At My Eyes in #503 – $9.50
Beauteque Pore Control Blackhead Brush – $15
I was really happy seeing an eyeshadow in this bag! I’ve never used one from Etude House is one of my favorite brands so fingers crossed I love this shadow as much as their other products!
I honestly had no idea brushes like this existed, I’m intrigued and I’ll be testing it soon! I loved Beauteque’s foundation brush from one of their BB Bags last year so I do have high hopes for this one. I’m glad they have a string at the end so I can hang it off the rack in the shower!
Here’s a swatch of the Etude House eyeshadow

I like the pigmentation and it’s not chalky at all, I know I’ll get tons of use out of this!
This month’s bag retailed for $69.50 according to the prices listed on the card but I noticed some prices are inflated, I found cheaper prices of some of the products on other websites. That being said, from the calculations I did, the value of this bag is still higher than the price!
My favorite products from this bag are the toner, massage cream, eyeshadow, brush, and the bag itself! This actually might be my favorite BB Bag yet!
If you want March’s BB Bag, be sure to subscribe by the 5th! You can subscribe here! If you subscribe after the 5th, you will get April’s BB Bag.

LuxePineapple NYX Mystery Box of Joy Review

Before I begin I just want to point out the box was tied much better than shown in the picture – I couldn’t help myself when I got this package, I ripped open the box before taking any photos and my bow wrapping/tying skills are terrible as you can see. Not that anyone cares.
Moving on!
LuxePineapple is a website that sells beauty products at a discounted price and they release Boxes of Joy and Mystery Boxes a few time a month and they also have the option to build your own Box of Joy!
Liz, the founder of LuxePineapple, was kind enough to let me build my own Box of Joy for review purposes, you can check it out here!
When LuxePineapple tweeted about their NYX mystery boxes, I knew I had to get my hand on one. Each box was $10 with free shipping and included 3 NYX items!

I was really glad I purchased this as soon as they came out because they sold out in minutes!

NYX Diamond Sparkle Lipstick in Sparkling Rust  $4.63
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Cobalt $4.50
NYX Mosaic Powder Blush in Truth $7.00
Everything but the lipstick is available on NYX’s website but I did find the lipstick on NYX UK’s website so that’s where I got the retail value from.
I took some swatches of the products

I don’t know if you guys can see but I swatched the mosaic powder first, it’s a really pretty golden color! I think I’ll end up using this as a shadow more than a highlighter/bronzer but who knows! I really like the color of the lipstick they sent me, I know I’ll be using it often! I know I won’t use the jumbo eye pencil often but I’m glad they sent me a pretty blue since I don’t have any colors like this!
This box had a value of around $16 and that’s a really great deal for me considering I only paid $10 for this box! NYX is one of my favorite drugstore brands and I love trying different products from them, and getting them at a discounted price is a huge win for me.
I’m definitely looking forward to purchasing more boxes from LuxePineapple, especially since they’re releasing some Ciate polishes soon! If you’re interested in checking out LuxePineapple, be sure to use my link here to get $10 off a $25 purchase!

Beauteque February 2015 Head to Toe Pink Bag Review

Beauteque is by far my favorite website to shop at when it comes to Asian beauty products, I’m particularly addicted to the various sheet masks they sell! Along with their monthly BB Bag, Beauteque also released a new Head to Toe Bag! This bag is not a subscription bag, it is a one time purchase and is only available until the end of February – I was kindly send this for review purposes.
The Head to Toe Bag costs $26 plus $4.95 shipping in the US, $6.95 in Canada, and $8.95 in Europe and contains 7-8 full sized products.
Some items are customizable and three of the items were shown in a sneak peek while the other items remained a mystery. I tried not to peek at all of the contents of Head to Toe Bag but I couldn’t help but check out reviews from other bloggers since the crazy weather delayed the mail!
February’s Head to Toe Bag had a theme of “Pink”, and is said to include a variety of beauty products perfect for an afternoon with friends or a night out with that special someone!
I saw many other gals raving about the actual bag this month and I can’t say I disagree! It’s completely different from the other bags they sent and I love the material and design! Plus the color is perfect for February!
Each bag comes with an information card detailing the products inside

Onto the products

Hada Senka by Shiseido Moisturizing Lotion – $15.95
Femme Couture Highlighting Luminizer in Pink Sparkle – $11.50
I know Shiseido is a highly respected brand so I was excited that Beauteque included one of their products in this bag! I tried this out and it feels great on my skin – it’s lightweight and moisturizing. I think it’s perfect for right now since I get a few dry patches in the cold weather.
I’ve never used a luminizer before since I prefer a matte finish. It can be used on its own or be mixed in with a foundation. I was curious to try this out but I made a HUGE mess with this product! I didn’t know it was going to be super liquidy/runny! I got it all over my hand and clothes. It does give a subtle glow but it settled into my lines so I’ll probably find someone to give this to. I really wish the packaging was different!

It’s Skin Todak Todak Wash Off Mask in Pomegranite – $2.50 each
Etude House Sleeping Spoon Cream in Rosehip – $3.95
Yay for masks! I’ve never tried these wash off masks before but I’m excited to use them. These are one time use but I’ll probably get 2 uses out of each pod. These are specifically for moisturizing and elasticity! You apply the mask and leave it on for 10-15 minutes and then wash it off with warm water.
I was really interested by the spoon cream since I never saw a product like it before. This cream is supposed to moisturize and brighten skin. You snap the handle and use it to mix the cream and apply it on your face overnight! I love Etude House so I’m really excited to try this out!

Lameila Compact Puff – $15.95
Tony Moly Automatic Lip Liner in 02 – $7.25
Tony Moly Circle Lens Volumizing Mascara – $6.50
The compact puff was in the sneak preview so I was really really excited to try it out! I LOVE my beauty blender but they’re pricey so I’m trying to find a nice dupe to purchase. Although the card says it’s nearly $16 I found this compact for $3 on a different website.
I have an addiction to lip liners at the moment so I was really happy seeing this in the bag! The shade is a gorgeous pink color and I know I’ll be using it often! It wasn’t super creamy but wasn’t rough when applying either, I may purchase a few other color! I also like how there’s a brush at the other end!
This mascara is supposed to give a long and defined look and isn’t supposed to clump. I’ll probably pass this over to someone since I don’t use mascara often. I do like how affordable it is but again, I found both of these Tony Moly products for a slightly lower price than listed on the card.
Another look at the lip liner + a swatch

The overall value with the prices listed on the card come to be around $66 so I think they had a misprint when they wrote the retail value was $80. However, some of the products do seem to have inflated prices and with my research over the web, the value I came out was near $50. I still think that’s a great value for the price of the bag! Plus I’m in love with all of the products – except the luminizer. I think my favorite are the Tony Moly Lip Liner and Etude House Sleeping Spoon Cream! I’m most excited to try the compact puff to see how it compares to the beauty blender!
I think Beauteque was successful in incorporating the products to the theme of “Pink”! I was intrigued on how they would do that and I am definitely going to stick the bag into my purse soon since pink is my favorite color!
I’m super excited to see what they come up with in March! If you’re interested in purchasing the Head to Toe Pink Bag, you can do so here! They’re available until the end of February or until supplies last.
