Summer Ulta Haul – A Collab With Beauty Beyond the Scale!

Hello beauties!

Ulta had a NYX sale and added Makeup Revolution to their website a few days back so I just knew I had to get my hands on some goodies!

But what makes shopping more fun? When your friend does the same! My friend Denise, over at Beauty Beyond the Scale, and I did some shopping on Ulta’s website the same day last week and we thought it would be fun to do a haul collab! Denise blogs about all things beauty, fitness, fashion, and lifestyle. You should definitely giver her blog a read as she has tons of great, honest reviews and she’s nothing but kind and super sweet!
Ulta had all NYX products 40% off and everything I’ve wanted to try was in stock (for the first time ever!) so that’s what really made me want to pick up a few things. BTW I will have swatches of everything at the end of this post!
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Copenhagen
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Transylvania
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Monte Carlo
Not going to lie, I only bought the NYX Matte Lip Creams because so many people were raving about them last year – especially Copenhagen and Transylvania. It took a while for me to get my hands on these since they were always sold out when I went to Ulta or Target. I think Monte Carlo and Copenhagen are nice colors but I really don’t like Transylvania on me. I also found it really streaky and difficult to work with. I’m debating on trying it out again or putting it in my shop on Edivv

NYX Intense Butter Gloss in Chocolate Crepe
NYX Intense Butter Gloss in Black Cherry Tart
NYX Intense Butter Gloss in Toasted Marshmallow
I wanted to try these when they first came out but was waiting to catch them on a sale like this! My favorite out of these three is Toasted Marshmallow and I do like Black Cherry Tart but Chocolate Crepe is a huge no for me.I seriously don’t remember ordering Chocolate Crepe though, I swear I chose something pink but oh well..I think I’m going to play around with it before putting it up for trade.
NYX Makeup Setting Spray Matte Finish
This finishing spray was always sold out when I looked for it online and in stores. I’m glad I finally got my hands on it – and it came at a perfect time, I’m just about done with my Urban Decay All Nighter Spray so I’m curious to see how this one works compared to that!
NYX Tres Jolie Gel Pencil Eyeliner in Pitch Black
Another thing I wanted to try for a long time! I refrained from buying this for a while since it was a pricier drugstore product but I am so happy to finally own it! It’s super dark and creamy and it glides onto my waterline with minimal effort. I’ve used it for about a week now and it stays put ALL day! It does run a tiny bit but I can work with it considering nothing else stays put besides this and my Pacifica Eyeliner.

Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer in Medium
Maybelline was buy 1 get 1 50% off and I’ve been wanting to try this for so long since so many people love it. I don’t use concealer often
Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo in Inked in Pink
I LOVE Maybelline’s color tattoos, they are perfect for a easy, quick look and lazy days – which is pretty much every day for me lol! I ordered a pink since I mainly own browns, blacks, and golds.
Makeup Revolution Salvation Velvet Lip Lacquer in Rebel
I am SO happy Ulta is selling Makeup Revolution because I really like their products but was trying to avoid international shipping costs. I really liked one of their Velvet Lip Lacquers from my last haul and wanted to try this. The formula is really decent for less than $5 – it’s long lasting, doesn’t dry out my lips and it’s super matte! I really want to own more wearable colors from their line but the ones I wanted were either sold out or not sold on Ulta’s website.

Here are swatches of all the lippies, eyeliner, and color tattoo!

So that’s it for my Summer Ulta Haul! Denise has tons of fun products in her haul – lots of goodies from Makeup Revolution and NYX:

  • Makeup Revolution Highlighter in Golden Lights
  • Makeup Revolution Highlighter in Peach Lights
  • Makeup Revolution in Radiant Lights
  • Makeup Revolution Iconic 3 Palette
  • Essence Lip Liner in Satin Mauve
  • NYX Argan Oil All Over Balm
  • NYX Tres Jolie Gel Liner Pencil in Pitch Black
Be sure to check out her haul here!

Top 5 Holy Grail Beauty Products

Hello beauties!

I LOVE to experiment with different beauty products which is why it’s super rare for me to stick to a certain eyeliner, lipstick, face wash, etc. However, there are a few products I cannot live without and I’ll be sharing some of them with you today!

These five products are the ones I consistently use the most and for sure will always repurchase!

I don’t have a particular shade I’m crazy in love with – there are so many pretty ones out there! I find myself using these so often lately since they’re perfect for a lazy girl’s routine! I usually just apply this on my lid with some eyeliner and am good to go! They stay on my lids all day and Maybelline has tons of gorgeous colors to choose from. Right now I have most of the brown/gold/coppery shades but I’d like to have some pinks and funky colors as well!

If you’ve been following my Instagram or reading my blog for a while you most likely know that this eyeliner is my FAVORITE! It’s the easiest way for me to get a super quick cat eye and
it.
doesn’t.
budge.
I can’t get enough of it! I know a few people prefer the Kat Von D one to this but I personally like this one better because the KVD just doesn’t apply as well as the Stila one for me. I always have to go back over and over my liner with the KVD as opposed to the Stila – where I’m done in one swipe. That’s just my experience though and it didn’t stop me from buying the KVD one lol!
I got this in a holiday set a few years back and it’s my favorite glossy lippie EVER! It’s like a “my lips but better” and I’m freaking out because I don’t see this shade on their website and the one I have is close to finished..is this shade not sold anymore?!
If this and my Mac lippie look familiar – fret not because you probably saw them in my “Most Used Lippies” post a while back! You can see swatches of both lippies over there as well!
Anywho ~ I really like this lipstick because it’s long lasting on me and a gorgeous shade I haven’t experienced with any other brand. I use this as an everyday wear and I’m realizing I only have a little product left – I have to make it last until Sephora has their sale in the fall!
Also, I LOVE the minty sensations Buxom lippies leave on my lips, which is part of the reason I bought their Lip Gloss Roulette last fall! Plus, I find that the slim shape of this lipstick makes it easier to apply!

This mask is holy grail status because it helps my dry skin SO MUCH! I use this 2-3 nights a week and it absorbs into the skin fairly quick and feels non greasy. I can always count on it to help get rid of my flakes and it just makes my skin feel super amazing.
Well there you have it! I was trying to find more skincare products I love but I don’t feel a super intense connection with anything else yet. What are some of your holy grail products? Is there anything that is an absolute must try? Let me know!

My Most Used Lippies + Swatches

Hello gorgeous!

Today I’ll be sharing my most used lipsticks and glosses. I have 9 lippies I reach for more often than others so let’s take a look at them!

These are in no specific order – actually, that’s a lie, I just realized my most used lippie is the first one in this photo, I didn’t do that on purpose, I promise! The other 8, however, are in no specific order. I’ll also include links and prices below.

Let’s check out the lipsticks/stains first!

Buxom Full On Lipstick in Acapulco – $19.00

Cynthia Rowley Creamy Lip Stain in Valentine – $20.00

ColourPop Lippie Stix in Lumiere – $5.00

Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in Get Ready – $18.00

Hikari Lipstick in Cabernet – $13.00

The Buxom Acapulco was the first lipstick I ever bought! I LOVE the color, when swatched, it looks like a deep lilac color but since my lips are a little more brownish, it shows up a bit more red/pink/burgundy as you can see from my profile photo on the top right of my blog! This is the first lippie I’ll be finishing up completely, and I’m so ready to buy a second one.  I love Buxom lippies because they leave a minty, cooling sensation on the lips!

The Cynthia Rowley Lip Stain was a prize I won in a giveaway and I love the color, it’s a lightweight formula on my lips and although it looks more pinkish in the swatch, it’s actually a lot more of a corally color. I do want to purchase a few more of her lip stains but I’m waiting to rack up some Birchbox points since they’re $20 a piece.

ColourPop’s Lumiere is the shade youtuber Kathleen Lights came out with and I had to get it! I love how it’s super affordable and and such a pretty everyday color! I can sense a ColourPop haul coming in the near future since her new eyeshadow quad is almost out (or is out already? I’m not sure).

Bare Minerals Moxie lippies are super creamy and I love their pigmentation, I originally got a sample size in an Ipsy bag last year and loved it so much that I had to buy the full size!

The Hikari is from November’s Lip Monthly and I think Ipsy had sampled it around then as well. This shade is super pretty and I really like the formula because it’s creamy and applies so smoothly on my lips.

Now for the glosses!

I’m not a huge fan of lip glosses but these four are ones I reach for all the time!

Beauty For Real Lip Cream in Always There – $22.00

Mac Cremesheen Glass in Over Indulgence – $20.00

Buxom Full On Lip Polish in Isabella – $19.00

Buxom Full On Lip Polish in Dominique – $19.00

The Beauty For Real is literally the PERFECT pink for me, I didn’t know it would be as pigmented as it is and it’s just perfection in a lip cream form, I love it!

The Mac Over Indulgence is also PERFECTION in a bottle, I can’t even express how perfect of a nude it is on my lips, I wear it all the time, I don’t know what to say besides P-E-R-F-E-C-T-I-O-N! This probably ranks #2 right after my Buxom in Acapulco.

The last two glosses, Buxom Lip Polishes in Isabella and Dominique are not full sizes, I got them last year in the Lip Gloss Roulette. I love these two because they’re great to apply over any lipstick or lipliner I use and like I said about the Buxom Lipstick, I love the cool sensation they leave on my lips!

Well there you have it! My most used lipsticks, I think I’d say the Buxom’s Acapulco would rank #1 and Mac’s Over Indulgence ranks #2 while the rest are equally my favorites!

Do you use any of these lippies? Let me know what your favorite or most used lippies are!

eDivv: The Perfect Place for Beauty and Fashion Swaps

Photo from eDivv’s website

Happy Friday everyone! Today I wanted to share a community I really enjoy being a part of – eDivv

eDivv is a place where members can trade, aka “divvy”, unwanted beauty and fashion related items – these can be samples from subscription boxes that didn’t spark your interest or products you bought but weren’t fond of! I was able to divvy numerous items for products I’ve always wanted to try such as IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye Concealer, Klorane Makeup Remover, Too Faced La Creme, and numerous other things – I’ll leave photos below!
Members can join eDivv and create a shop for free, where they can add items they would like to divvy! You can then browse through various categories or shops and initiate a trade when you find something(s) you’d love to have, then either make an offer or tell the shop owner you’re interested and they will have the chance to go through your shop and make a counteroffer! Once a trade is confirmed, you will be asked to buy a shipping label through eDivv or purchase your own and submit a tracking number.
Easy enough right?
FREE shipping labels can be earned after every 7th divvy and you can also get a free label with the code “Rme12l5S7iQ “!
I know a few readers wanted more info about eDivv so I was really happy and appreciative when cofounder of eDivv, Casey Casterline, took some time to answer a few questions, so let’s jump right into them!

What is eDivv?

eDivv is a marketplace for women who have extra beauty products and fashion accessories, and who are passionate about the beauty industry to buy, sell, and swap their extra products.  The ability to buy/sell is a feature we are developing now and will be availlable in the next several weeks!

What inspired you to create a community like eDivv?

I started getting Birchbox in 2011 and loved it!  I had always loved makeup, but subscribing to beauty subscription boxes really gave me a chance to explore and experiment with new products and colors.  After awhile, I noticed that some experiments weren’t for me (green nail polish anyone?) and things kept piling up. I felt bad about throwing these things away and tried to find an alternative solution.  I went online and noticed that women were already trading on blogs and forums but there was no community to bring all of these smaller communities together, and is why I built eDivv.

I imagine there may be some bad apples in the community who do not fulfill their end of a Divvy or are dishonest when listing products, how do you deal with such members?

In every group of people, there are bound to be a few bad apples 🙂 We handle these situations in a number of ways:
1. The rating system.  After every divvy, you have the ability to rate your divvy partner 1-4 stars and leave a written review.  We want these reviews to be honest so we also give you the ability to leave it anonymously.
2. Blocking. If there is ever a situation were we find someone is being dishonest or don’t fulfill their end of the divvy, we permanently block them from eDivv.  We have a few security features in place to make sure they are unable to create a new accounts or trade on eDivv ever again. This is something we take VERY seriously.
3. Tracking. We make it mandatory that each divvy partner enters tracking information on eDivv for their divvy partner.  They can either purchase the shipping label directly from eDivv and the tracking will be automatically sent, or they can purchase shipping elsewhere and manually import the tracking, which will then be sent to their divvy partner.
4. “Report this Item.” Users on eDivv can help the eDivv team by clicking the “Report this Item” on any listing they see that has incorrect information or is inappropriate. The eDivv team will take a look at the listing and if it goes against our community guidelines, we will remove it.

I have a few readers and friends who think eDivv is fantastic but are doubtful with the thought of Divvying with strangers, is there any advice you would give?

The way to think about divvying with people you may not know is not that they are strangers, but your new girlfriend you haven’t met yet!  The women on eDivv are all passionate about the beauty industry and you may have a lot in common!  The ladies I have divvy’d with are so sweet.  When divvying, they are always writing cute notes and including extras in my packages!  This happens quite often, and it’s what makes eDivv such a great community.  If you are still hesitant, look for ladies who have had a number of good ratings and go from there!

There have been some changes and additions to eDivv such as purchasing shipping labels directly through the website and being able to see what products are currently considered for trade, are there any future updates members will see soon?

We are constantly making improvements thanks to the community’s feedback and are so excited for the things to come.  Soon, users will also have the ability to not only trade their products, but also to sell or buy items as well.  When you are creating a new listing, you can choose if you would like to sell the item and select a price.  This feature will be launched in the next several weeks so please keep a look out!
Well there you have it! I am super impressed with eDivv, here are a few of the divvy’s I received in the past couple months!
What do you think of eDivv? Let me know your thoughts in the comments as well as links to your shops if you’re a member!

Lazy Day + 5 Product Makeup Look

Hello beauties, I hope you’re all having a wonderful Thursday! One of my fellow bloggers, Dippy Writes, inspired me to write up this post. I highly recommend visiting her blog – she has great posts on beauty, fashion, and lifestyle!
I was originally going to have two separate posts, one for my lazy day routine and another for a makeup look with 5 products, but I realized they would be super similar so I decided to combine the two!

I just want to put out there that I’m no MUA or beauty expert, I just love playing around with makeup and I learn new things each and every day.
This lazy look is what I typically do for most days, I prefer to just cover up most of my acne scars and smear on some lipstick before running off to class or wherever else I may have to go.
As many of you may know, I am currently in school to get my Master’s in Health Administration. I stress out way too much for my own good which causes me to break out like crazy, mainly while classes are in session. That being said, I’m still trying to find a better way to cover up my acne/dark spots so any tips/tricks would be appreciated!
Onto the products I used:

image
Loreal Paris Voluminous Smoldering Eyeliner
This eyeliner is super creamy and I love using it on lazy days because it applies super quick compared to my other liners. However, I don’t use this if I’ll be out for more than a couple of hours because it can start to get runny. If I am out for long I’ll use Milani’s Retractable Pencil or Urban Decay’s Glide On. I do want to try Ardency Inn’s pencil soon though, I keep hearing that it’s a holy grail item!
I didn’t use a liner on my top lid today but if I do I usually will stick to the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner or Mac’s Fluidline.
Smashbox Photo FInish More Than Primer Blemish Control
This is the only primer I like at the moment but I do want to find something from the drugstore because like Kathleen Lights would say, “girl, das esspensive!”
Mac Studio Fix Fluid Foundation
This foundation works so well on me, it’s super easy to apply compared to other foundations I tried and it gives a nice medium coverage! It does tend to make me break out sometimes but I haven’t found anything that will give me the same type of coverage. Maybelline Fit Me and UD’s Naked Skin are on my list though!
Buxom Full On Lipstick in Acapulco
This was the first lipstick I ever bought so it does have a special place in my heart!
Amazing Cosmetics Amazing Concealer
I just got this to review a couple days ago and so far I really like it! This has a thicker consistency compared to the Mac Concealer I’ve been using.
So those are the 5 products I used for this look! I do switch up lippies, eyeliner, and add in eyeshadows but this is what I basically do for days I’m feeling lazy – which is about 80% of the time!

LuxePineapple Ciate Mystery Boxes of Joy

When LuxePineapple mentioned they were going to sell Ciate Paint Pots and Minis I knew I had to get my hands on them.
For those who don’t know, LuxePineapple is a website that sells beauty products at a discounted price and they release Boxes of Joy and Mystery Boxes a few times each month and they also have the option to build your own Box of Joy at times! I’m crazy addicted to their un-subscription boxes, not only because of their great deals, but also because of their kindness, positivity, and fantastic customer service!
The Ciate Boxes of Joy were released earlier this month and I was bummed at first since they were set to release while I had class. From what I’ve seen, most Boxes of Joy sell out super quick but I was able to snag 2 of the 5 different boxes that were being sold!
There were options for curated boxes and mystery boxes – I opted 2 mystery boxes! I thought the smaller boxes they came in were super cute!

Top: Ciate Paint Pots Box of Joy #4 |MYSTERY 3 Paint Pots Plus 1 Mini – $18.00 (Retail Value – $45.50)
Colors (left to right) – Knickerbockerglory, Kiss Chase, Night on the Tiles, Razzmatazz
Bottom: Ciate Paint Pots Box of Joy #5 MYSTERY 1 Full Size Plus 4 Minis – $16.00 (Retail Value – $47.00)
Colors (left to right) – Boudior, Double Bubblegum, Razzmatazz, Risky Business, Pool Party
LuxePineapple did not disappoint! I was worried I would get colors I wouldn’t like but I’m love with all the colors! I think a lot of these will be perfect for the spring and summer, especially the pinks! Although I got a repeat of Razzmatazz, I don’t mind since it’s a super pretty glittery gold and I don’t have any polishes like it!
Happy Tuesday Beauties!

March 2015 Birchbox Review

I say this every month but this month’s box is G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S!
Birchbox is totally on point with their box designs – if you’re a subscriber, don’t forget to keep all of your boxes, they’re planning something fun at the end of the year!
For those who don’t know, Birchbox is a monthly beauty sampling subscription service that costs $10/month!

Birchbox is one of my favorite subscription services because I find myself actually using and loving everything (or almost everything) I receive! I’ve discovered many new brands from this sub!
Another reason I love Birchbox is their INCREDIBLE point system! For every item in your box you review, you receive 10 Birchbox points, which is equal to $1 in theBirchbox store. Something new they started this year is if you share your Birchbox on FB or Twitter you will get an additional 10 points! These points add up super fast since you can get $6 or more worth of store credit each month!
Plus they have some fun opportunities for bloggers/youtubers each month, like the Birchbox Book Club! I was able to read all of Gillian Flynn’s novels – Gone Girl, Dark Places, and Sharp Objects a few months ago and  I actually just got an email a few minutes ago saying I will be receiving this month’s book, Better Than Before by Gretchen Rubin!
So now for this month’s box!

image
This month’s theme was creativity:
Get inspired with this month’s picks. Expressing yourself hasn’t been this fun since finger painting.

Being the dummy I am, I forgot to take a photo of the back of my information card and now I can’t seem to find it anywhere.

Harvey Prince Sincerely Perfume Sampler – .05 oz $1.65
Mirenesse Glossy Kiss in 04 Angel Kiss – .05 oz $11.00
Argh! The dreaded perfume samples! At least it’s Harvey Prince and a larger vial than I usually get! I’ll stick this in my purse for emergencies but there’s a 99% chance I won’t use it. It doesn’t smell horrible but it’s not a scent I would purchase for myself, I think it’s great for the Spring though! I’m horrible at describing scents but the inside of the card says it’s spicy, sweet, and calming.
I was super excited  to see this lip crayon, the shade is perfect for me ! I think it’s cool that they sent us a sample that’s half of a full size, this should last me for a long time!

image
Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle – 1 oz $2.75
Jelly Pong Pong Glow Getter Highlighter – FULL SIZE! $12.75
Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre (24 Hour Miracle Cream – .17 oz $1.87
I’ve always heard people raving about the Protect & Detangle so I’m excited to try it out! It’s supposed to lock in hair color, protect from heat damage, and add silkiness.
I don’t incorporate a highlighter into my makeup routine but I probably will now that I have this little guy! I honestly thought it was a nail polish at first glance haha!
I found the miracle cream interesting because it’s a moisturizer, primer, and makeup remover all in one! You apply it as a primer/moisturizer or use a little on a cotton ball to remove makeup!
This box has a value of a few cents over $30! I’ll for sure be using 4/5 of the products and I’m super excited about the lip crayon and protect & detangle! I’m also happy that they included a full sized product and decent sized samples for me this month!
March’s Birchbox is a win for me, if you’re interested in subscribing you can do so here!
If you’re already a subscriber, what did you think of March’s box, was it a hit or a miss?
