Derma E Purifying Daily Detox Scrub Review

There are very few skincare products I feel strongly about and Derma E definitely has a few that I would never stop using. The product I’ll be reviewing today is their Purifying Daily Detox Scrub. I received this product a few weeks ago from Derma E themselves and I am so so thankful because I found a new line of products I absolutely love!

Here is a little information about the scrub I pulled from Derma E’s website:
Gentle enough for daily use, this detox scrub lifts away micropollutants and impurities while promoting oxygenation for a fresh, healthy radiance. Doctor developed and clinically tested, this revitalizing formula contains some of the most powerful minerals and natural toxin fighters from the earth and from the sea. Kimarine® Wakame is a potassium-rich, magnesium-rich seaweed that is clinically proven to protect skin against environmental pollutants (exhaust fumes, cigarette smoke, heavy metals). Bladderwrack is an antioxidant-rich, mineral-rich seaweed known for its water-binding properties, supporting healthy skin hydration and nourishment. Activated Charcoal, known for absorbing 100 to 200 times its weight in impurities, helps remove toxins from the skin’s surface. Apricot Seed Powder gently exfoliates away micropollutants, and Green Tea delivers potent antioxidant defense. Ideal for oily, active or urban skin types, even safe for reactive skin (minimal ingredients and allergy-tested), this formula boosts skin purity for a refreshed, glowing complexion. 100% vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, mineral oil-free, lanolin-free, gluten free, GMO-free.

Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Cetyl Alcohol, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Seed Powder, Glycerin, Coco-Caprylate, Charcoal Powder, Fucus Vesiculosus (Bladderwrack) Extract, Undaria Pinnatifida (Wakame, Kimarine®) Extract, Organic Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract* (.1%), Menthol, Glyceryl Stearate Citrate, Xanthan Gum, Diheptyl Succinate, Capryloyl Glycerin/Sebacic Acid Copolymer, Menthyl Lactate, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Coco-Glucoside, Glyceryl Oleate, Iron Oxide, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin.
The cost of this scrub is $15.50 for a full size – 4 ounces.
Here is what the scrub looks like:
I had no idea what to expect the first time I tried this but I didn’t expect a metallic silver color! I think it’s super neat and a nice change from standard colors of scrubs I’m used to.
This particular scrub is meant for normal to oily skin. My skin is a combination + sensitive and I tend to use this anywhere from 5-7 times a week, typically in the mornings because it provides my skin feeling completely fresh with a cool, minty sensation. The scrub is very gentle yet powerful enough to remove impurities and leaves my skin feeling smooth. I am a fan of the apricot seed scrubs for this very reason because I feel that it really takes off all the oil, dirt, and dead skin cells on my skin without irritating it. Moreover, this scrub doesn’t dry out  my skin at all even though I use it so frequently!
I’m crazy obsessed with this scrub and have already purchased another tube from Ulta since I’m just about done with this one. I really adore Derma E because they provide great ingredients at a lower price range than what I usually shop for.
If you’re interested in checking out or purchasing Derma E’s Purifying Daily Detox Scrub, you can do so on their website here or from Ulta here!
Feel free to also check out my review on two other Derma E products I love – their Scar Gel and Microdermabrasion Scrub here and here!

My Scar Gel Story

Hey hey HEY!

I reviewed Derma E’s Scar Gel and Microdermabrasion Scrub yesterday and wanted to make a quick little post about my scar gel story.

This Scar Gel can be used for any types of scars but I primarily use it for my acne scars.
I’ve had acne troubles since I was a teenager always picked my fact, I still do pick on them sometimes. I seriously need to stop! Anywho ~ my acne scars were so bad, they covered my whole face. It was really embarrassing and definitely took a toll on my self esteem and confidence. I remember how people would always point my scars out and a few folks even made fun of me. It sucked but I got over it.
I used Proactive in my teenage years to get rid of my acne and it worked for a bit but my face broke out like crazy once I stopped using it. I turned to aloe vera plants, retinol cream, and tea tree oil for the longest time and it definitely helped a ton! It soothed my skin and diminished my scars a little but it took months before I noticed results.
I don’t break out as much as I did back then but I still have some hormonal acne issues..especially from January-March of this year, it was horrible! Those breakouts led to a whole new batch of scars and I was desperate to find a way to make them go away. That’s when one of my close friends told me about Derma e’s Scar Gel! She said it worked for her and I was curious to try it out!
The information card in the box says results can be seen in just about four weeks and to be honest, I was pretty skeptical about this. However, I’ve been using the Scar Gel 3-4 times a day for 5 weeks now and can already see that my newer/lighter scars have almost completely diminished and my darker/older scars are fading as well!
I am really impressed with how this Scar Gel is working on my skin! I definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a product to fade scars. You can purchase this via their website, on Birchbox, or use this to find a location near you!

Ouish Boutique Acai and Hibiscus Day and Night Cream Review

Today I am super excited to share a brand I recently became a fan of – Ouish Boutique
Ouish Boutique is an independent beauty brand that sells various products ranging from bath muffins to various skincare products such as face creams, body oils, scrubs, and more! They also sell a monthly box which includes four luxurious bath muffins – a great way to treat yourself! The owner, Nadia, is such a sweet woman and very kind, and that really makes Ouish more appealing in my eyes.

Here is a little more info about  Ouish Boutique from their website:
Ouish was founded in 2014 by a young business woman with a passion for beautiful, unique and luxurious bath and body products. The name Ouish is a take true to heart and originates from the founders childhood. When she was young, she would always pick up dandelions and make a wish as she blew their parachuted seeds into the air. As you might have already noticed, the name “Ouish” was developed as a play on the word “wish” as a memory from her childhood. Many years later, Nadia’s wish came true and she is now the founder of her very own bath and body boutique!
I was introduced to Ouish Boutique through Luxe Pineapples LE Small Luxuries Box a few weeks ago and have been hooked since! I received the Acai and Hibiscus Day Cream, Soothing Eye Serum, and Vanilla Hazelnut Bath Muffin in the Small Luxuries box and soon after I purchased the Acai and Hibiscus Night Cream and Miracle Oil.
This review will focus on the Acai and Hibiscus Day and Night Creams.
Can we just take a look at the packaging first? I find it so simple and cute plus I love the little tag on each of the jars!

Acai and Hibiscus Night Cream – 2oz | $9.00

This Acai & Hibiscus Night Face cream is high in protein, triglycerides and vitamins due to the honey and goat milk in this product. Its regenerating properties can help promote collagen formation in the skin. Our formula is gentle and our signature scent fills the air with notes of hibiscus and acai, sprinkled with the scents of currant, plumeria, jasmine and amber. It is perfect for your evening face cream!

Acai and Hibiscus Day Cream – 2oz | $9.00

This Acai & Hibiscus Day Face cream is lightweight yet rich in Vitamin E to help moisturize and regenerate the skin. Our formula is gentle and our signature scent fills the air with notes of hibiscus and acai sprinkled with currant, plumeria, jasmine and amber. It is perfect for your everyday face cream!

I have been using both of these for about two weeks now and I am super impressed! I have really dry skin with tons of dry patches and flakiness but this day cream keeps my skin moisturized ALL DAY! I’ve tried so many moisturizers that claim to be hydrating and intensely moisturizing but none compare to this one.

The night cream is just as great, it’s super creamy + moisturizing and I just love how it absorbs into my skin super quick. I use this the night cream 4-5 days a week while I use the Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask the remaining days for an extra oompf of hydration.

I find the consistency of both of these similar, the night cream might be a tiny bit creamier than the day cream but both are super moisturizing! My skin’s dry patches and flakiness have diminished greatly since I incorporated both of these into my skincare routine.

Also, both of these smell INCREDIBLE! I usually don’t like my moisturizers to have a scent to them but the soft floral scent of both of these are amazing. If you prefer scentless moisturizers these may not be the products for you.

Furthermore, both of these creams are so much more affordable than all of my past moisturizers, I can’t believe they each cost $9.00 a jar! I plan to review their soothing eye serum and miracle oil next – I want to use them for a couple weeks longer before writing about them.

I highly recommend checking out Ouish Boutique and both of these creams as well as their other products! Slowly but surely I want to purchase their Acai and Hibiscus Face Scrub and one of their body oils and body splashes. Actually…I just want to own almost everything in their shop!

Have you tried Ouish Boutique? Let me know what you think of this independent brand in the comments below!

Favorite Youtubers

Photos are from each of their Twitter or Instagram profiles

Happy Friday!

If you follow me on Instagram, you probably know I’m doing a 31 Days of Beauty Challenge. Today’s photo was to show our favorite youtubers! If you asked me a year ago, I would have said I don’t watch youtube but that all changed when I started to look up beauty reviews and tutorials. I wanted to share eight youtube channels I always keep up with, these are some of the sweetest gals I’ve seen on youtube and I wish I could be bffs with them all!

Top Column (left to right)

Amy Lynn Thompson – I love her personality and energy, she’s the gal I go to when I’m looking for nail polish reviews and her Birchbox vs Ipsy unboxings are my favorite!

Hope from Beauty and Bliss – She is super sweet and I enjoy watching her videos, whether they’re unboxings, hauls, or tutorials! Every time I see blue nail polish or makeup related item I think of Hope since she loves UK Basketball. I definitely need to start getting into sports since I’m probably the only one in Kentucky who doesn’t keep up with UK Basketball!

Kathleen Lights – I’m a huge fan of Kathleen’s videos, especially her Kat Chats, reviews, and hauls…basically any video where she talks for 20+ minutes! I love her personality and how down to earth and honest she is!

Middle Column (left to right)

Jaclyn Hill – I don’t even know what to say about Jaclyn! Personality, tutorials, hauls, everything! She is just completely awesome!

Natasha from Glamour and Glasses – I met Natasha through a beauty group we’re both in and she’s one of the kindest gals ever! I know she’s been busy with her move but I can’t wait to see more videos from her!

Bottom Column (left to right)

Jean from The Real Mom Review – Like Natasha, Jean and I met in a beauty group as well! I love watching her reviews because she does a great and honest job of explaining the pros/cons of products, and she’s super sweet!

Ashlynn from A Beauty Moment – I feel like I’m being redundant but Ashlynn is also super duper sweet! Her videos are always fun to watch and I really wish I found her channel long before I did.

Tracy & Stef of Eleventh Gorgeous – I live for their “Battle of the Boxes” and hauls! I also love their other channel, Tee and Ess! They’re super entertaining and I’m excited for the big news they’re coming out with!

There are a few other youtubers I watch but these 8 are the ones I stay up to date with! Each and every one of these gals are some of the sweetest people ever and I can’t wait to watch them all grow! I highly recommend subscribing to them all if you haven’t already!

Let me know who your favorite youtubers are in the comments below or if we share any of the same faves!

March 2015 Birchbox Review

I say this every month but this month’s box is G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S!
Birchbox is totally on point with their box designs – if you’re a subscriber, don’t forget to keep all of your boxes, they’re planning something fun at the end of the year!
For those who don’t know, Birchbox is a monthly beauty sampling subscription service that costs $10/month!

Birchbox is one of my favorite subscription services because I find myself actually using and loving everything (or almost everything) I receive! I’ve discovered many new brands from this sub!
Another reason I love Birchbox is their INCREDIBLE point system! For every item in your box you review, you receive 10 Birchbox points, which is equal to $1 in theBirchbox store. Something new they started this year is if you share your Birchbox on FB or Twitter you will get an additional 10 points! These points add up super fast since you can get $6 or more worth of store credit each month!
Plus they have some fun opportunities for bloggers/youtubers each month, like the Birchbox Book Club! I was able to read all of Gillian Flynn’s novels – Gone Girl, Dark Places, and Sharp Objects a few months ago and  I actually just got an email a few minutes ago saying I will be receiving this month’s book, Better Than Before by Gretchen Rubin!
So now for this month’s box!

This month’s theme was creativity:
Get inspired with this month’s picks. Expressing yourself hasn’t been this fun since finger painting.

Being the dummy I am, I forgot to take a photo of the back of my information card and now I can’t seem to find it anywhere.

Harvey Prince Sincerely Perfume Sampler – .05 oz $1.65
Mirenesse Glossy Kiss in 04 Angel Kiss – .05 oz $11.00
Argh! The dreaded perfume samples! At least it’s Harvey Prince and a larger vial than I usually get! I’ll stick this in my purse for emergencies but there’s a 99% chance I won’t use it. It doesn’t smell horrible but it’s not a scent I would purchase for myself, I think it’s great for the Spring though! I’m horrible at describing scents but the inside of the card says it’s spicy, sweet, and calming.
I was super excited  to see this lip crayon, the shade is perfect for me ! I think it’s cool that they sent us a sample that’s half of a full size, this should last me for a long time!

Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle – 1 oz $2.75
Jelly Pong Pong Glow Getter Highlighter – FULL SIZE! $12.75
Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre (24 Hour Miracle Cream – .17 oz $1.87
I’ve always heard people raving about the Protect & Detangle so I’m excited to try it out! It’s supposed to lock in hair color, protect from heat damage, and add silkiness.
I don’t incorporate a highlighter into my makeup routine but I probably will now that I have this little guy! I honestly thought it was a nail polish at first glance haha!
I found the miracle cream interesting because it’s a moisturizer, primer, and makeup remover all in one! You apply it as a primer/moisturizer or use a little on a cotton ball to remove makeup!
This box has a value of a few cents over $30! I’ll for sure be using 4/5 of the products and I’m super excited about the lip crayon and protect & detangle! I’m also happy that they included a full sized product and decent sized samples for me this month!
March’s Birchbox is a win for me, if you’re interested in subscribing you can do so here!
If you’re already a subscriber, what did you think of March’s box, was it a hit or a miss?

March 2015 Beauteque BB Bag Review

Beauteque is one of my favorite websites to shop at when I’m looking for beauty and skincare products from the Eastern side of the world! They have an AMAZING variety of products – I’m particularly addicted to their sheet masks!

The BB Bag is their monthly subscription beauty bag. Each month Beauteque will send you a bag full of 7-8 full sized beauty, skincare, fashion, and lifestyle products but I’ve noticed they have a larger focus on skincare. Each bag also has a few products where subscribers can choose a specific scent, shade, etc. Options will be emailed in a survey format on the 15th of each month and if you don’t choose by the 20th, the Beauteque team will choose for you.
Here’s a breakdown of the different plans and prices:

  • $24 + shipping for 1 month.
  • $24 + shipping for 3 months
  • #23 + shipping for 6 months
  • $22 + shipping for 12 months
  • Shipping fees are 3.95 for the US, $5.95 for Canada, and $8.95 for Europe.
  • If you subscribe by the 5th of the month, you will receive the BB Bag of that month, if you subscribe after the 5th, you will receive the BB Bag for the next month.
  • Subscribers will be billed on the 15th of each month if they choose the month to month option and bags will begin to be shipped on the 15th as well

Before I get to the products I have to mention how great Beauteque’s bags are! I love the diverse styles, patterns, and material they use and I think they’re the perfect size for me! This month’s bag has a really pretty lip pattern on it and it’s definitely going into my school bag for sure!
This month’s theme is “Our Lips are Sealed” and the bag was curated to give the best of the best.
Each bag comes with a card detailing the products sent

Onto the products!

TonyMoly Mini Bling Pocket Hair Mask – $3.00
A’Pieu Take My Hands Nail Sheet Mask – $5.00
I never used a hair pack like this before so I’m really excited to try it out! It’s a leave in hair treatment for the ends of damaged hair. You’re supposed to leave it on for 15-30 minutes and remove it. It looks pretty simple to put on, you basically put the pack on your hand like a glove and wrap it on your hair like a pony tail – that probably sounds confusing but the picture instructions look simple!
The Nail Sheet Mask was customizable, I chose the Avocado while the other option was Berry. This nail pack nourishes nails and cuticles, you wear it for 15 minutes and massage the remaining essence into your skin!

The Face Shop Rice Toner – $14.00
Mizon Modeling Cup Pack – $8.00
The Face Shop Massage Cream in Cucumber – $12.00
I’m still using the toner I got from the Head to Toe Milk Bag but I opened this one anyways because it’s supposed to be super moisturizing. I’ve only been using this for 2 days but I love the way it feels and it does help moisturize my skin more than other toners have!
I’m glad Beauteque put the Mizon Pack in a ziploc bag because some of it did spill but I’m glad the cup itself didn’t break! For this product, you use a 1:3 proportion with water and powder and then mix it together. Leave it on your face for 15-20 minutes and then rinse!
Subscribers were able to choose between Cucumber and Mugwort massage creams. The cream has Vitamin B to refresh and revitalize skin, you massage it on your face for 3-5 minutes and then rinse it off with a cleanser – use 1-2 times a week. I used this about an hour ago and have to say I’m impressed! The cucumber scent was pretty strong when I opened it – I don’t like the smell of cucumber at all – but I’m happy to say the scent was minimal when I applied it to my face and massaged it in, it felt so creamy and moisturizing! My skin was left super refreshed and soft after washing it off!

Etude House Look At My Eyes in #503 – $9.50
Beauteque Pore Control Blackhead Brush – $15
I was really happy seeing an eyeshadow in this bag! I’ve never used one from Etude House is one of my favorite brands so fingers crossed I love this shadow as much as their other products!
I honestly had no idea brushes like this existed, I’m intrigued and I’ll be testing it soon! I loved Beauteque’s foundation brush from one of their BB Bags last year so I do have high hopes for this one. I’m glad they have a string at the end so I can hang it off the rack in the shower!
Here’s a swatch of the Etude House eyeshadow

I like the pigmentation and it’s not chalky at all, I know I’ll get tons of use out of this!
This month’s bag retailed for $69.50 according to the prices listed on the card but I noticed some prices are inflated, I found cheaper prices of some of the products on other websites. That being said, from the calculations I did, the value of this bag is still higher than the price!
My favorite products from this bag are the toner, massage cream, eyeshadow, brush, and the bag itself! This actually might be my favorite BB Bag yet!
If you want March’s BB Bag, be sure to subscribe by the 5th! You can subscribe here! If you subscribe after the 5th, you will get April’s BB Bag.
