Too Faced White Chocolate Chip Palette First Impressions + Swatches

Too Faced launched two palettes in time for the holidays recently – their Matte Chocolate Chip Palette and White Chocolate Chip Palette. I picked up the latter when it was available to VIB Rouge members on the Sephora site. I thought I’d do a quick first impressions and show some swatches before they restocked their website since I’ve seen many people show interest in wanting to get their hands on this palette!

This palette is available on Sephora’s website for $26 and comes with 11 cocoa powder infused pastel, creamy nudes, and a pop of black shades. It’s currently sold out but they should be restocking soon.
The first thing I noticed about this palette is that it’s small and sleek.

Like REALLY small. It’s smaller than my mom’s iphone 5.
And the pan sizes are insanely small. The big pan holds 1.5 grams of product while the 10 smaller pans have 0.5 grams each making the total amount of product in this palette 6.5 grams. This is about a third of the amount included in the original Chocolate Bar which has 18.9 grams of product for $49.
Simply comparing the amount of product in each palette doesn’t make the White Chocolate Chip Palette worth it to me. You get less than half the amount of product while the cost is more than half of what the original Chocolate Bar. At first I tried to justify the small pan sizes with the fact that I hardly ever go hit pan on my shadows but my view changed once I swatched these shadows. I used very little product in my swatches and feel like I already used up a ton of product. Hopefully that isn’t the case but seeing the dents I made with one use doesn’t keep my hopes up.
Shades top to bottom: Glaze, Ambriosa, Exotica, Pearl Candy, Raspberry Rose, Indulge, Guilt Free, Cake Batter, Cookie Dough, Sugared Raisin, Black Sugar
I do like the color range of the shadows, however, I feel like there are more nudes than pastels. Before I played around with the shadows, I expected the shimmers to outperform the mattes but it was the opposite. I had to layer up the shimmer shades to build up the swatches. Most of the mattes are good in my opinion, but not impressive. They’re extremely powdery and a few had to be built up.
Final Thoughts
Pros: Cute packaging, the cocoa scent is great, and color range is something I’d use
Cons: Amount of product provided, formula isn’t as great as I hoped it to be, especially the shimmery shades.
If you’re a beauty enthusiast who wants this in your collection, then I’d say why not – but don’t have your hopes up. If you’re someone who’s on the market for a new palette, I’d say skip this and splurge on a Lorac Palette, especially if their holiday ones are still available ($18 only!) or even an Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette
If you’re willing to try something new, I’d say go with an indie brand such as Touch of Glam BeautyDevinah Cosmetics, or JD Glow Cosmetics!
What are your thoughts on the White Chocolate Chip Palette? Will you be purchasing it if you have not already?

ColourPop Blues Baby Ultra Matte Lip Collection Review and Swatches

If you’re looking for a bundle of affordable, stunning, holiday friendly matte liquid lipsticks then you’ve come to the right place! ColourPop’s Blues Baby Collection includes 5 gorgeous Ultra Matte Lips and is currently on sale for $20 (regular price is $25)!

ColourPop’s Blues Baby includes 5 full size Ultra Matte Lips in the shades:
  • Mink – Deep greyed out mauve brown
  • Play Date – Rich blackened magenta
  • Notion – Rich red violet
  • Avenue – Deep yellow red
  • Smitten – Dark blackened violet red

The set costs $25 but like I said above, their Black Friday sale is still up (ends 12AM PST 11/26) and running so you can get this bundle for 20% off – no code needed!

Shipping is free on orders $30+ within the USA and $50+ internationally.
I knew I had to have this collection because every shade is suitable for my skin tone! Plus, I love the holiday packaging – the frosted tube and black cap is a nice change!
ColourPop is definitely one of the more affordable brands out there and I think they outperform many drugstore brands and even a few high end companies. Their Lippie Stix in the Matte X formula are my favorite products by them but their Ultra Matte Lips are definitely my second favorite! I really wish their Ultra Matte Lip formula was consistent though, some of them are great and some just plain suck. I’ll talk more about the formula of these 5 below!
I adore all 5 shades! I already own Avenue and Notion but the packaging really got me – yes I know I have issues.
In my defense, Avenue’s formula did not work for me when I bought my first one ages ago – and since it was one of the first Ultra Mattes ColourPop had released, I was curious to see if they changed it over time. Unfortunately, it seems like they did not – the formula of the new one is still super patchy and doesn’t dry down to that concrete feeling ultra matte finish I’d like it to.
Mink and Play Date were the ones that dried down the quickest, which was interesting since I had swatched those two the last. Their formulas seem similar to Notion’s which I do like! I’m one of those gals that like the super drying matte liquid lipsticks and Smitten seems to dry down like that as well. However, I noticed Smitten had one of those formulas that crumbled easily when on the lips – something similar to what I’ve experienced with Love Bug.
Despite my critiques on some of the formulas, I still think they’re MUCH better than nearly all the matte liquid lipsticks I’ve tried that are in the same price range, even more pricer ones on the market. Plus, my experiences and preferences be different from yours. I know many people who have no issues with Avenue!
All in all, I absolutely LOVE Blues Baby and think it would be a great addition to your makeup collection + it would make a great stocking stuffer!

Tarte Rainforest After Dark Colored Clay Eye and Cheek Palette Review

I’ve had my eye on Tarte’s Rainforest After Dark Eyeshadow Palette for a while now and picked it up at Ulta when they were offering the “Make Today Beautiful” mug as a gift with purchase! Unfortunately 2 of the Ulta’s near me ran out and the third never received any – oh well! Read on below for more information on this palette , swatches, and my thoughts!

This palette costs $40 and contains 6 shadows with a mix of matte and shimmer finishes, 1 highlighter, 1 bronzer, and 1 blush. You can purchase this palette directly from Tarte , Sephora, or Ulta! I personally would recommend purchasing it from Ulta since their rewards system is pretty darn amazing! If not Ulta, I would say Sephora, especially if you’re a Beauty Insider, VIB, or VIB Rouge since all purchases will be 2x, 3x, or 4x points depending on your status through 9/17/2016!

Here is what the inside of the palette looks like:

Each shadow contains 1 gram of product, highlighter and bronzer contain 4 grams of product each, and the blush contains 6 grams of product. Moreover, this palette is formulated without parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, gluten, and sodium lauryl sulfates.
Let’s see some swatches!
Just as a note, these swatches are done with Smashbox’s Photo Finish Shadow Primer and each shade is swatched twice – the top swatch is done with my finger and bottom swatch is done with a packing brush – for these swatches I used a brush from Coastal Scents – there’s no name or number on the brush.
Top to bottom: Bare to Explore, Make a Mauve, Plum Away With Me

All three of these shadows are super creamy and blendable – I haven’t had an issue with any of the shades so far!

Top to bottom: Up To No Gold, Tan-gled Up In You, and Don’t Turn A Brown

Tan-gled Up In You is a shadow I had absolutely no issues with from these three shades. Up To No Gold is one of my favorites but it will take a bit of layering to get intense pigment – nothing I haven’t had to do before! Don’t Turn A Brown, however, is the only shade in this palette I had to work with. It’s patchy and doesn’t blend easily. It’s not completely horrible, I’ve seen worse in high end palettes but it’s not the best shadow from Tarte.
Top to bottom: Champagne, Park Ave Princess, Unleashed

I don’t have any complaints with the face products in this palette. I do wish I used the highlight more – it’s stunning and doesn’t contain an immense amount of shimmer, making it perfect to use daily! I don’t use the bronzer often either but that’s because I don’t incorporate it into my daily makeup routine. The blush is a gorgeous shade as well and the selling point for me as opposed to the Showstopper Palette – the blush in that looks a bit too light for me.

This is my 6th palette from Tarte and I have yet to be disappointed. The formula of their shadows is one of my favorites! I definitely have zero regrets purchasing this palette because the face products are spot on as are all the shadows besides Don’t Turn A Brown. Also, this palette is perfect for traveling – it includes a highlight and blush I would use plus mauves, purples, and browns are my favorite shades of shadows! This might be my 6th palette from Tarte and I have not been disappointed yet! The formula of their shadows is one of my favorites!
Like I mentioned above, this palette is available at Tarte , Sephora, and Ulta! I would recommend purchasing from Ulta, if not Sephora to get the most out of your haul.
Hope you all have a great rest of your weekend!

City Color Cosmetics Boho Chic Palette Review + Coupon Code

Fall is by far my favorite season, that being said beauty collections that drop this season are usually my favorite too! City Color Cosmetics is launching their Autumn palette – the Boho Chic Palette – tomorrow and they were kind enough to send it to me a few days ago so I thought I’d post a review + swatches in case any of you were curious to see what types of shades are included in this palette!

City Color Cosmetics is a brand that continues to step up their game! They offer quality products for an affordable price and shipping is free on orders $25+ for US orders! Decent/free shipping rates are the way to my heart! City Color Cosmetics ships to US and Canada – if you’re an international shopper you can contact them via their website to see if they have an international distributor near you!

You can check out my past City Color reviews here and here!

Anywho, let’s get talking about the Boho Chic Palette! Like I mentioned above, this is part of City Color’s Fall Collection! This palette includes 12 brand new earthy shade inspired by the cool bohemian style of late summer. The palette includes a mix of shimmers, mattes, and satin finishes and shades that would be perfect to create neutral daytime looks as well as intense night looks!

The palette is in a cardboard packaging and closes magnetically. I know some people don’t like cardboard packaging but I don’t really mind it – it’s pretty sturdy!

This palette costs $15.99 but you can use coupon code “glamourandgiggles” to get 10% off! This is an affiliate code so no worries if you don’t want to use it!

Here’s a better look at the inside of the palette:

As you can see, the shades are absolutely stunning! When I first ripped open this palette, Marsala and Infinity were the two shades that stuck out to me!

Let’s take a look at some swatches!

I was seriously impressed at how pigmented all of the shades were. In my review of their Poolside palette, I had mentioned there were a few shades that lacked color payoff and just didn’t work for me. This isn’t the case with the Boho Chic palette! The shimmer shades are definitely my favorite – I’m on a huge shimmer kick right now!

Ultimately, I am super happy with the Boho Chic palette – I think it’s perfect for Autumn and includes a nice range of shades to create day and night looks! It’s also insanely affordable, especially with the great quality of the shadows! If you’re interested in purchasing this palette, you can do so here! Coupon code “glamourandgiggles” will give you 10% off your order!

What are your thoughts on this palette? Will you be purchasing it? Let me know your thoughts below!

City Color Beauty Poolside Palette First Impression + Swatches + Coupon Code

I recently hauled a few City Color Beauty products that I had my eye on for quite some time and thought to do a quick first impression on their Poolside Palette in case any of you were in the market for an affordable, colorful palette!

City Color describes the Poolside Palette as:
New for Summer 2016, the City Color Poolside Palette is your go-to for fun, fresh and on-trend looks! Complete with 12 seasonal inspired shades like Suntan, Bikini and Seafoam, this palette will allow you to create neutral or bold looks all summer long. Features a mix of shimmer, satin and matte shades in limited-edition artwork packaging.

This palette costs $15.99 and is available to US and Canadian residents. If you are an international shopper, you can contact City Color and they will let you know if there are any possible distributors near you so you can enjoy their products as well!
Besides their affordable prices and high quality, City Color offers free shipping to US residents on orders $25+ – how awesome is that?!
Plus, for further savings, use coupon code “glamourandgiggles” to get 10% off your order!

The shades I was instantly attracted to were Reef, Poolside, Seafoam, and Chillin’. The other shades are just as stunning but I don’t have many shades like the ones I mentioned in my collection.
Let’s take a look at swatches!
As always, my swatches are without primer. The satins and shimmers have a great amount of pigment and apply smoothly and blend easily. Some of the mattes have a great formula but there are a few that will require fix plus to provide more pigment. Bikini, Topless, and Voyage are the shades I had trouble with but like I said, I’m sure a some primer and fix plus will help out!
Apart from the few mattes, I’m really happy with this palette! There aren’t many affordable eyeshadow palettes that I’m ever content with but City Color definitely has some that I love! Apart from this palette, I’ve purchased the Harvest Moon, Figtastic, Spice Me Up, and Intense Shine palettes! You can check out my swatches and reviews on them here!
If you want to purchase or check out the Poolside Palette, you can do so here! Also, you can use coupon code “glamourandgiggles” to get 10% off your order!
What are your thoughts on the Poolside palette? Will you be purchasing one for yourself?
